Getting your child to learn your job is a job in and of itself. Every parent hopes that their kids will be interested in something that they are. Of course, when you have two girls and you’re an auto-mechanic, you really hope you can share your love of cars with them. Girls can do anything boys can do, right?

According to Sophie , maybe not so much. Clark and I were talking about needing work done on my truck. “I’m going to do the alignment on your truck tomorrow.” Sophie, being a nosy kid had to jump into the conversation. “You’re doing the alignment?” she asked. Wrong thing to ask on her part. Clark replied, “Yep, and you’re helping. You’re short enough. You’ll fit right under the truck!” Sophie, didn’t quite agree. “Are you crazy?! No way! I don’t have the certificate for that!”  Daddy did not seem to think this was an issue. “It’s okay! I’ll teach you!” Again, wanting to share his love of cars with his children, but Sophie was really having none of it. I suppose butting into other people’s conversations is more than she can chew. “No way, you are crazy! Heck no! Girls stay inside!!” Now I can no longer stay silent on the matter, “What? No they don’t!” Sorry, but to me, there are minimal jobs that are strictly “boy” jobs and strictly “girl” jobs. Don’t ask me what they are. I can’t think of any right now and I’m telling a story. Shh. Sophie then decides the best course of action is to defend herself. “What? I’m just giving Daddy a piece of my mind!” In the end, Daddy won and she went to learn about doing an alignment on a vehicle

Being a parent is an interesting journey. There are tiny people that are walking around, looking like you or their dad. They act like you as well. It can be utterly terrifying to have a child. I get that. At the same time, it can be the best thing you ever do and can also be incredibly hilarious.
