today i thought about the train
the clatter on the tracks
the calmness of a breathing room
with plywood at our backs
breathe in, breathe out, let time roll by
let time breathe in and out.today i thought about the train
joined our cacophony
the silence that cleared through the noise
that brought epiphanies
the sound of rain brought down in loads
the breeze that chilled us to the bone
the train that we didn't take home
let time breathe in and outtoday i thought about the train
all that i learned next door
the beating hearts, the lively laughs,
our feet pounding the floor
we opened up, we melted down
with trash bags as our royal gowns
with rings of light used as a crown
let time breathe in and outtoday i thought about the train
the lengths through which we went
to ensure every moment more
was just as wisely spent
as playing pretend in our teens,
as soaking up each other's dreams
'til we're stuck bursting at the seams
let time breathe in and outtoday i thought about the train
i'm really not sure why
something about that memory
i felt the need to cry
all the things i associate with that room and that time
the people that i came to love, a family that's mine
the silence that united us, allowed us to unwind
i miss the sound, i miss the space, i miss that moment, time and place
let time breathe in and out, i say, let's listen for the train.
