"Dumplings!" Jinyoung opened the pot, showed the delicious looking soup along with a medium sized ceramic bowl full with boiled dumplings.
The Wangs were in awe. "Look at those beautiful dumplings, honey!" Mark's eyes were wide opened.
Jackson's jaw dropped all the way to the floor as he saw the most appetizing look of those glistening dumplings. "Wow. You made these?" Jackson looked at Jinyoung with his round eyes with a little of disbelieve.
"Yeah. With a little help from my husband" Jinyoung rubbed Jaebum's shoulder next to him and smiled.
"Did you spent the rest of the day making these dumplings for us??" Mark was still in awe, admiring the dumplings as he flipped them around one by one, observing the meal; sometimes he poked them using a chopstick and giggled when the dumpling bounced after he did that.
'I made them for him' ; he said in his mind, keeping the dangerous thought for himself only.
"Yes I made them just for you guys!" He lied. But that was not fully a lie. He did want to impress them by making a chinese dish for the new neighbor who came from abroad. Mark's information was very useful indeed.
"Thank you so much!" Mark smiled showing his beautiful white teeth, telling that he was really thankful someone cooked them a chinese dish when he was in a state of missing his family at that time. "This is Jackson's favorite dish actually" Mark informed.
'I knew it' -
"Oh really?? Wow what a coinsidence!" Jinyoung smiled brightly. He was really happy. His definition of happy was trully diferent with everybody's interpretation of his little squeal. The three people would assume that his happiness came from the very positive respond from the chinese family, while the truth is .. he was happy he can guess it right about this Jackson man's favourite dish. Plus, he managed to cook it for him- no. for the family- uh... for this family dinner.
The Wangs and the Ims started to dig in their meals and have some little conversation in between.
"How does the dumpling taste?" Jinyoung asked, basically to Mark and Jackson but his eyes was only directed to the man sitting in front of him.
"This is soooooo goooooddd!" Mark shut his eyes and smiled, showed that he was really happy and that he was truly enjoying the dumplings Jinyoung made.
"Yes. This is really delicious. This reminds me of my mom's dumpling" Jackson said his compliment to the man sitting across him.
"This is the second time he made dumplings and he improved alot" Jaebum stated. "Trust me the first time didn't taste like this at all" Jaebum joked, welcomed by the other's laugh and a light slap to his chest done by Jinyoung.
"Noooo the first one was as good as this one!" Jinyoung defended. The Wangs were still giggling, and Mark was secretly admiring the sweet chemistry going on between Jinyoung and Jaebum.
Jackson was not a type of a romantic man. If Mark's ideal type of his "future husband" that time was someone who's romantic, then Jackson's definitely off the list.
Mark fell in love with his actions and the sincere attention he gave for him when they were still in college. They were both came from abroad. Jackson was the only person Mark could talk to using Mandarin or English and he was the one who clicked to him, matched with his humor, accepted his critical opinion on how people should behave or on how weird the society was, deal with his unique behavior when he was angry; throwing anything that's near him, and on top of them was Jackson's "actions speak louder than words".
He rarely said 'I love you' to Mark after they married. Instead, he showed it through his action. This happened since they knew each other back then, by buying him meals during his tiring dance practice, bringing an extra umbrella in his car in case Mark forgot to bring his, giving his thick jacket to Mark when Mark's own jacket was not warm enough to protect his thin body, would be there in Mark's apartment in just a second as soon as he heard him sobbed through the phone call, and those little yet meaningful actions Jackson did sucked Mark deeper in to his world. The world full of affection and warmth of love.
