You sat with Hiccup watching as the last of your bags were placed onto the ship. "Are you sure you have to go?" Hiccup asked savoring the last few minutes with you.

You had only found out a couple days ago that you would be leaving Berk. Being only 8 years old, you didn't quite understand why you were leaving. The night you found out you cried, not wanting to leave your best friend, Hiccup. The last couple days, you two had been spending as much time as possible together.

"Yeah.. I guess I have to.." You gave him a sad look. He mirrored your expression and pulled you close to him. "But you can't! You're my only friend... If you leave, I'll have no one..." You fought back tears as his skinny arms hung around you. "I'm sure you'll get a new friend." He didn't answer for a minute, he just continued to hold you.

"Ok, (y/n). Time to go." You felt your mothers hand on your shoulder. You wanted to brush her hand away and yell at her. Couldn't she see how hard it was for you? Didn't she care?

You couldn't hold it back anymore. You let a few tears spill out and run down your cheeks. "I'll miss you." Hiccup said. "Me too." You finally pulled apart and looked into each other's eyes. His where glazed over, just like yours. "I guess this is goodbye?" He said sadly. "Don't say goodbye. Because goodbye means going away, and going away means forgetting. And I don't want to forget you." He managed a small smile. "Then, until we see each other again." You nodded.

"See you later, Hic."

"See you later, (n/n). I'll write to you." You nodded.

"All aboard! Ship leaving in 1!" You mother placed a hand on your shoulder again. "Come on, (y/n). We need to go." You began to walk away not wanting to look back to Hiccup. Right has you were about to board Hiccup stopped you.

"Wait! (Y/n)! I forgot to give this to you!" He handed you a small box with a purple bow. "Thank you, Hiccup! What is it?"

"Open it once you get to your new home." You nodded and hugged him one more time. The boat began to move. "(Y/n), be careful or you'll fall in." You mom pulled you back as you left the dock. Hiccup, being his usual clumsy self, stumbled a little and into the water. You laughed watching him surface. From the water, he waved at you. You waved to Hiccup and watched as his father pulled him out. Hiccup got smaller and smaller and soon you couldn't see him at all. Just more sea.

*** 10 years later ***

You stood at the market holding a red apple in your hands. Your mother had sent you out to gather some fresh fruit among other things for later tonight. She said she was making a surprise for your birthday. You pulled out the list again. Apples, flour, sugar?

"Can I help you?" You looked up at the service lady and smiled. "Just browsing. But thank you." She smiled and walked off to help someone else. You grabbed three apples and a bag of sugar. Now for the flour.

"(Y/n), can I help you?" You turned and saw Drake. After your first year in Solacce, the two of you became friends. He became your new Hiccup. You wondered if Hiccup had replaced you yet. The thin silver chain that hung around your neck reminded you of him. It had a sloppy heart for the charm, but he wasn't that great at being a blacksmith. You never told anyone why it was special or who gave it to you. It was your secret. The last letter he sent you was from a few years ago. Either than that, you never heard from him again.

"Drake. Come on, I'm already behind. I don't need you distracting me, I need to find flour." You smirked at him. His short black hair blew in the breeze. "Flour, huh?" You nodded and noted his hand behind his back. "Like this?" He held out a white lily. You gasped and reached for it. "Happy birthday, love." You laughed and threw your arms around him. "Thank you!" You planted a kiss on his cheek. Given that Hiccup seemed to not care about you anymore, you had moved on. Drake was your boyfriend.
