Chapter 7
Present time
Interrogate me
"Uhh..." I shouldn't have let myself say that.
"Who is Danny?" Bailey stands up from my bed.
"He's a guy."
"That you used to know? From your mysterious past?" She slowly walks towards me.
"Umm yes."
"What happened between you and Danny?"
"Nothing!" I stand up and walk around my bed away from her.
"Don't lie. I'll figure it out."
"Nothing was between us."
"Then why do I not know about him?" She backed me in to a corner.
I'm starting to hate corners. "Because he's nothing."
"You're denying a whole lot of nothing, Thalia." She grabs my chin and looks me straight in the eyes.
"Uhh." I forget all about Danny and Max. All I can think about is how beautiful her eyes are, even if they have that angry look in them. I don't even notice my hands grabbing her waist and pulling her a little closer.
"Thalia?" She releases her grasp on my chin and steps back. "Thalia!"
"What?"
"You're acting really weird. Like very weird."
"Umm I need to pee. I'll be back."
I dash to the door and rip it open and sprint to the bathroom.
What the fuck was that? I mentally scream at myself once I am inside the safety of the bathroom.
I pace thinking. Like seriously! What the total fuck was that?! It's like my mind decided to make a move on her. But it's Bailey! Bailey is a girl! I don't like girls! And she has a boyfriend! What the fuck was my mind making me do?
I slam my hands down on the counter by the sink and look at my self in the mirror. Should I tell her about Danny?
No. Unless I accidentally mention him again.
I stand up, tighten my pony tail and open the door and go back to my room.
"Sorry about that." I smile. "Must've been some side affect of my medication."
"What medication?" Bailey closes the door behind me.
"Umm antidepressants," I lie. Well, not a total lie. I am on antidepressants plus still some pain meds for when my back or legs start hurting again.
"Oh. I didn't know you took those."
"Yeah..." I answer slowly.
"Why?"
"Past issue. Can we talk about something else?"
"Why do you always hide your past? You never talk about it. Like ever."
"No reason." I start pulling out pajamas. "I need to go to bed."
"Okay." Bailey picks up a bag that I didn't notice before and starts pulling out some shorts and a tank top.
"What are you doing?" I stop moving and just stare at her.
"Your mom said I could spend the night."
Fuck. Now I'll have to explain. "Okay..."
"You don't want me to?" She stands up with a hurt look in her eyes.
"No no no! You can stay the night anytime! I just. Girl problems..." Ughhh...
"Girl problems? Like period stuff? I'm a girl. Talk to me!" Bailey picks up one of my decorative pillows and throws it at me.
I laugh. "Bitch!" I swipe another one and launch it back at her.
"You're the bitch!" She counters.
"Nah aw!"
"Yeah! You don't open up about your past!" She tosses another pillow back at me.
I catch it and sit on the carpeted floor.
"My hair is blond."
"What?" Bailey comes and sits next to me. "Your hair is brown. Like dark brown."
"No it's blond." I stand up and pull her into the bathroom. Opening a drawer, I expose boxes and bottles of my unnatural hair coloring supplies.
"What the fuck... Why are you telling me this now?"
"You want to know my past, so I'm telling you. Slowly, but I'll tell you."
I slide the drawer shut and we head back to my room.
A few minutes later, we're lying in my bed, side by side, in silence. Then Bailey breaks the silence. "How blond was your hair? Like blinding blond or like dirty blond?"
