Chapter 8
Present time
Morning
Bailey was still asleep when I woke up the next morning. It was 6:00am. School started at 8:30 and I needed to shower. So I got in the shower and with a deserted mind, I washed.
Then I remembered last night.
Fuck.
Bailey knows I had blond hair. What difference does that make? Lots of people dye their hair.
She also saw all of your makeup. I tell myself.
I apply conditioner to my hair. Is she going to tell Christina?
No. It's not important enough to make a big deal out of it.
Suddenly there's a lazy knock on the door. "Thalia. I need to pee."
"I'm in the shower so come in." I shout.
The door opens and closes after Bailey enters the bathroom and I hear the tinkling of water.
"So is Max a good kisser?" Bailey asks.
I pretend gasp. "I told you we didn't kiss!"
She laughs as the toilet flushes, making the shower system shudder a bit. "I know you didn't! I just wanted to get on the topic!"
"So?"
"So, why didn't you tell us that you knew him while Christina was talking about how good he was in bed?"
"I didn't realize it was the same Max."
"Oh okay." The sink turns on and I assume she's washing her hands. "So. Who's Danny?"
I drop my body wash bottle. "Fuck. Umm he's Max's friend."
"And?"
"And nothing."
"There's gotta be more than that. He's Max's friend, but what else? Toss me your face wash." I oblige. "Did you date Danny?"
"No."
"Then why is he so hard to talk about?"
"They bullied me for years."
"Oh. I'm sorry." The sink turns on again.
"It's nothing now."
The sink turns off. "Okay."
I turn off the shower. "Hey, hand me my towel."
"Okay." Bailey's hand sticks through the shower curtain holding my towel.
"Thanks." I wrap myself in the towel and slide open the curtain and step out on to the bathmat.
Bailey is standing there, in her pajamas, putting on makeup. With her mouth slightly open, and her eyes wide, she coats her eyelashes with my extra dark mascara. Her long, naturally colored brown hair is tangled down her tan back.
I realize I'm just standing there in my towel, still dripping wet, staring at her. I blink and focus on drying myself off. I grab another towel and wrap my hair up in it, then turn my back and dry my arms and torso.
When I was dry, I left the bathroom, leaving Bailey in there to finish her makeup, I went to my room and got dressed. I picked out my favorite bra and panties then went to my closet to pick a dress or a skirt.
My bedroom door opens but I don't turn.
"I think you should wear that one." Bailey says. She points to my royal blue maxi dress. "With these shoes." She picks up my black ballet flats. "And this cover." And points to my white lace cardigan.
"Okay thanks. What are you wearing?" I ask as I take the shoes and pull the dress off it's hanger.
"This!" She pulls out a black skirt and a pale blue, slightly see-through, long sleeve shirt.
"Very cute. I think I have that shirt but in green."
"Aw..." She looks down at the shirt. "We could be twins!"
"Yeah but not today." I laugh at her optimistic suggestion as I pull on my dress.
"Okay sounds good." Bailey smiles at me before stripping off her pajamas.
I stare at her bare belly. "I don't get how you can be so skinny but have curves! You lucky bitch!"
"What? You are like the curves queen! Not in a bad way though, it's sexy." Bailey winks at me and I feel my stomach flutter.
"Thanks." I slip on the flats and the cardigan and go back to the bathroom to do my makeup.
