Tuesday morning. Not fun. Yesterday night, Lady Whisp had Luther and me working harder than I’ve ever been worked before. She taught us a ton, but she would snap at us every time we got something wrong.
But I’m learning. Really, really well. She told me that when we left at ten last night.
As Luther and I made our way back to our dorms in silence, he glanced at me, smiling. “You’re really amazing at ballet, Lexi. You know that?”
I smiled a little to myself. “Thanks. You’re not bad yourself. You should stretch more, though.”
“And you shouldn’t,” he said, nudging me in the shoulder. “I didn’t know you would do the splits.”
“Neither did I,” I whispered.
“I’ll see you tomorrow during class.”
“Yeah. Bye,” I said when we got to my room.
“Wait,” he said, touching my arm.
I turned around and looked at him with wonder. “Hm?”
He was speechless for a second, and I felt a bit self-conscious. Then he sighed. “Never mind. See you tomorrow,” he said.
I nodded. Before he officially left, he lifted my hand to his lips and smiled. I laughed and shook my head. “You’re crazy.”
“I know.” Then he walked off down the hallway.
My legs are sore from yesterday. Lady Whisp said that this might happen, so she told me to stretch where it hurts worse. Well, it’s all over.
“What are you doing?” Maya asks with a laugh.
I sit in wide straddle and lean forward, my chest completely on the floor. “Stretching. It feels so good.”
Henrietta’s eyes widen when she leaves the bathroom. “I didn’t know you could do that?” she breathes.
“Don’t try it,” I say. “I was told this isn’t for normal people.”
Maya laughs again. “That’s awesome, Lex. As long as it makes you happy. Hey, I was looking through your closet and—”
I hold up a hand and sit up. “You were going through my closet? Again?”
Maya rolls her eyes. “Of course, again. I need to make sure you have your outfits in style. And, as always, you do, but I need to check because if you don’t coordinate with us, it’s all a big colorful mess and maybe, just maybe, my life will end!”
Henrietta and I both stare at her. “Don’t hurt yourself,” I say when she starts to breathe hard.
Then she laughs. “Right, so I was going through your closet and I found the cutest sundress. I’m going to wear one of mine, too. Henrietta’s going to wear one of mine since she doesn’t have one.”
“I am?” she asks.
“Of course, you are! Don’t you want to match us?”
She sighs. “The risks I take of being friends with you guys,” she grumbles.
