   (Esther's POV)

I stared at the door the messanger had just vacated in shock.  He had just came in here, telling me the news that there was a plot against the king, and a man by the name of Hamen had caught the men who wereplotting, and put then in prison.  He also reported that the man, Hamen, had been given a promotion from the king, and then he left.  I had so thought he would have told me that Mordecai would have been given a reward too, for first figuring out about it, but he left.  And I knew there were only two options, one was that the king had been given false reportings, or the king had just ignored the man who had really saved him.

(King Xerxes's POV)

I tossed and turned in bed, i closed my eyes, but the idea of men, my own guards lotting against cept coming into my mind. Now this wasnt the first time some sort of angry people would have plotted against me, but every time it happened, i wouldnt be able to sleep at night.

Finally, i sighed and called in my servants that were awake.

"Come and read to me the Book of Acts of King Xerxes." That always brought me to sleep, it would boreme, as well as keep my mind on pleasent things, such as the brave and Noble things I had done.  I waited while they brought it out.  and they started to read.  As I felt myself drifting off, I heard them read somthing that made me sat up.

"WAit!" I said, "Read that part again" Startled, the servant cleared his throught and re-read the passagge,

"And an exile, by the name of Mordecai was sitting my the gate, when he overheard a plot against the king.   He promptly alerted Queen Esther who then reported to Hamen, whom sought out this suspition. finding it true-"

"There!" I said, " It is recored that another man had found out the plot! not Hamen. I must reward the man who saved my rule! jTell me, who is in the courtyard?"  They sent one of the servants, who reported that Hamen was in the courtyar, doing his duties. And I sent him in.

   (Hamen's POV)

I walked donw the road tword the castle.  I couldnt help smiling by the plan my wife had told me.  How to get rid of the insufferable man by the gate.  I continued down the road.  Everyone I passed, inclined their head toward me as I passed.  I could really get used to this promotion.  People scared of me whereever I went.  I could almost smell their fear, and it smelled good.  I was about to walk throuh the gate, and into the courtyard, when I noticed one person who wasnt bowing his head, if anything, he was holding it higher.  I turned and glared daggers at him, making sure that he knew my loathing for him.  But he didnt show any emotion in his foreign face.  I turned, remembering the plan I had to get rid of him, the man that sat by the gate every day, the man that disrespected his authoritys, the man by the name of Mordecai.

I walked through the gate, and into the courtyard.  I stared walking across, when a sevant came toward me.  He was staring at the ground as he spoke,

"Sire, the King wishes to speak to you."

He then turned and walked back to where he had come.  I lifted my chin, and followed him into the Kings sleeping chamber.

"What shall I do for the man who pleases me?"  The King asked.

My mind whirled.  what shall I say? Certainly he was pleased with me, though he had already given me apromotion.  Mabey he felt my works deserved more credit, or I did such a good job, that he wanted to reward me more.  I formed the reward in my mind, it was great, though just in case it was someone else, I didnt say everything on my mind.

"You should give the man who pleases you your own royal robe, and put a ring on his finger.  You should put him on the best hrse, and ride him through the streets, proclaiming 'this is done for the man who pleases the King'"

There, that sounded good.  I could almost fell the silk of the robe, and the glory I would recive on the horse, though it only lasted for a few seconds, until the King spoke again.

"Very well, go and do this for the man named Mordecai sitting by the gate."
