Izzy's POV

We all got in our line up to bat. First was Ham, he hit a home run. Then it was Bertram, he hit it into the outfield and ran slid into first. Kenny, Squints, Smalls all did the same as Bertram. Then Yeah- Yeah went up to bat and hit a home run bringing Kenny, Squints, Smalls and himself home. Then Timmy went up to bat and hit it into the outfield and ran to second. Next was Tommy and he bunted and ran to first. Then Benny went up to bat, he hit a home run bringing, Timmy, Tommy and himself. Then I was up.
"Great." I sighed before walking out of the dugout.
The rest of the boys cheered as I picked up the bat and took practice swings. Some of the boys on Philips team whistled at me from the dugout.
"She's never gonna hit it!" one said.
"Those we're lucky catches!" another added
I rolled my eyes and blocked them out. I took my stance and waited for the pitch.
I watched as the pitcher cocked his arm then threw the ball. I swung, hit it and it flew into the outfield. I began running the bases as fast as I could. Once I rounded third and was almost home, I saw the catcher catch the ball. He held it out in front of in an attempt to tag me. At the last second, I slid into home plate. All the boys cheered for me and ran out to the field. We had won the game.
"Little help here," I said, gritting my teeth. Benny and Bertram grabbed my hands and pulled me up.
"Oh, shit." Squints said, looking at my thigh.
"Yeah, yeah, that looks pretty bad." Yeah- Yeah said.
"Just get me into the dugout," I said walking with Benny's help. I sat down on the bench and looked at my new scrape/bruise (also called a raspberry).
       "Damn!" Ham said.
"Taking it like a champ," Kenny added.
"I need to dust it off," I said, looking at it.
"Its gonna get infected," Smalls said.
"It'll be fine," I said, lightly wiping off the dust while getting my hand a little bloody.
"I think we need to do something to celebrate this win." Squints said as I stood up.
"How about the carnival?" Timmy suggested.
"How about the carnival?" Tommy repeated.
"I have nothing better to do." I said, "I just need to clean this up."

*~*

"Hey, guys, it's all on me tonight," Benny said as we walked up to the ticket booth. We all thanked him as he paid for the tickets. "Come on, you guys!"
We all started walking to the ride when Bertram spoke up, "Aw, crap! I almost forgot!"
       "What?" we all questioned.
"Chaw! I was saving it for a good time," he said, pulling it out of his jacket pocket.
       "What is it?" Smalls asked.
"Big Chief." Bertram smelled it, "The best!"
"Jeez, Smalls. I suppose you don't even know who The Babe is either." Ham said as Benny put his hands on Smalls' shoulders. "It's plug. Wad. Chewing tobacco." Ham said.
       "'Baccy, man," Bertram said.
"What do you do with it?" Smalls asked.
"So innocent," I said, hugging Smalls from behind and shaking him a bit.
"You're killing me, Smalls. Chew it, of course." Ham said taking a wad that was too big.
       "You do?" Smalls asked.
"Yeah, sure, man. All the pros do it." Kenny said.
"Yeah, yeah. Gives you tons of energy." Yeah- Yeah said.
       "Let's dip," Timmy said.
"Let's dip," Tommy repeated. I watched as they passed it around, but both Benny and I passed.
"Aren't you gonna have any?" Squints asked.
"Nah, man. Not tonight." Benny said, grabbing my hand.
"And I would love to, but I want to watch you guys get yourselves sick. So I'll stick to bubble gum tonight." I smiled.
"What do mean?" Ham asked, his mouth full.
"One, have any of you ever dipped before?" I asked.
       "Yeah," Bertram said.
"Two, I know you're lying because if you had, you wouldn't have gotten as much as you have," I said, blowing a bubble with my gum.
"Like you would know." Bertram rolled his eyes.
"That's what you all said about me playing baseball, yet here we are," I said.
Bertram shrunk back and his face burned red while some of the guys laughed.

"Let's ride!" Benny said and everyone yelled in agreement.
Benny and I moved into a seat on the ride, while the rest of the boys moved into individual seats. The boys were all overconfident. They were all acting like big shots. I couldn't wait to see it all blow up in their faces.
We all yelled happily as the ride began. I felt Benny's arm come behind me. I frowned as the ride got faster. Then, something came to my mind.
"Oh, no," I said.
"What's wrong?" Benny asked.
"I was just thinking..." I trailed off.
"Yeah?" Benny questioned.
"I don't know if it was a good idea to come on this ride with them," I said.
"Why not?" Benny furrowed his brows.
We heard the guys moaning and burping. I almost threw up at the sound of it.
"That's why," I said, getting nauseous myself
"Oh, no," Benny said as we both scrunched our noses.
"Oh, shit." Benny and I said in unison. We heard the boys start retching. It was unbearable.
"Duck!" I said.
Benny and I leaned to the side as vomit began flying. The boys all started burping and moaning as they threw up. Benny and I kept our heads down. I heard people on and off the ride screaming. Let's just say it smelled god awful.
I barely heard the boys yelling over the music, but Benny and I still had our heads down.
Finally, the ride stopped and we saw the damage. I covered my mouth and nose with one of my hands as Benny held the other. As we stepped off the ride we were careful to avoid the puddles of vomit.
"Oh. My. God." I said as we stepped down the stairs.
People ran off the ride with the boys vomit on their shoes and clothes. I looked at the boys getting off the ride. They all looked like they had the plague. They were all moaning and burping. Their shirts and pants covered in vomit. The ride operator looked like he was going to quit right then and there.
"Oh, the feels better," Ham said, burping.
"Oh, ew," I said, trying not to gag.
The boys all smelled awful. They looked like punished dogs. But Bertram looked the worst. He looked at me, upset that I was right. His pale face almost made me feel bad for him.
"Well?" I asked, "I'm waiting."
"You were right." he said, shuttering as he looked at his puke stained shirt, "And I'm sorry."
"Wet that with warm water, cover it with baking soda, pour vinegar over it, then put dish soap on it and soak it in water." I told the boys, remembering all the times I would clean my dads' shirts, "It should come right out."
"Let's go," Benny said, "I think that's enough for one night."
"Agreed," I said and we all started walking home.
