With Wren, she knew to look out for a big pink sign. It was something they'd always done when they got each other from the airport. She had no idea what to look for to try and find Chris. She was wearing dark sunglasses and a hoodie that was uncomfortably hot, but it seemed to be doing the trick momentarily, for she wasn't getting noticed by anyone. Her eyes scoured the airport, trying to read the names on signs people were holding up.

Cassidy. Braden. Mister Maynard. Nothing that said Cole.

She nearly missed it. It was so small in his hands, but the second her eyes whipped back to the delicate red tulip she had skimmed over in hr haste, she knew it was him. There was only one, not a bouquet like she was so accustomed to. It seemed more personal, somehow. He too was wearing dark sunglasses and a baseball cap, buried under the hood of a sweatshirt she'd stolen many times. He gave a soft smile when he saw her, and that smile was magnetic, pulling her closer and closer to him until they were standing toe to toe.

"Hi," she said softly.

"Hi." He gently pushed the tulip out in front of him, like a peace offering. "Figured it's our tradition."

"It kinda is." She looked up at him. Even with his sunglasses, she could see the dark circles under his eyes. She gently reached up with the hand that wasn't holding the flower and ran her fingers above his cheekbones. Before she could stop it, her lower lip quivered. "I really wanted that test to be positive."

"I know," he said softly.

"I really wanted you to be happy about it."

"I know. I would have been."

"No, you wouldn't have."

He didn't argue, probably didn't see the reason to. "I really missed you," she said.

That, he knew how to respond to. "I really fucking missed you too."

The hug he gave her was the only apology she needed. "I'm sorry."

"I'm sorry too."
