Helga's POV:

I snap out of my quick over-analysis to see that Arnold is still close as hell. I decide not to back up though, I'll take this opportunity for what it is. Besides, he looks like he is overwhelmed with confusion.  "The hell are you looking so damn confused for?"

He slowly wanders out of his trance and his eyes meet mine. He somehow gets even closer, which I didn't think was possible, and smiles again. This time it isn't one of those cocky smirks from earlier. It's one of his infamous show-stopper grins. Still making eye contact with him, I melt inside. I hardly keep my mouth from forming a dopey line across my face. I feel my eyes brightening on their own though, can't stop that.

I try to look away but my body won't let me. I lean in even further and then-

It happens.

The one thing  I've been dreaming about since I was five happens.

I kiss him on those pink, soft lips I've watched move and smile since forever.

He's shocked, I hear-no, feel him gasp against my mouth. I wonder for a small moment if this is all a mistake. If, somehow, everyone I know is watching me right now and laughing. Laughing like they did in preschool. But that thought fades as I remember we're completely alone and this isn't preschool anymore.

It's my turn to be suprised when Arnold falls into the kiss. I-I don't...I never really thought he would do this. Does he really-actually, feel about me the same I do for him?

I end the kiss, however ecstatic it made me. I need to ask him.

"Do you like like me?" I breathe in, anticipating his possible rejection.

"Yes."
