Patience my enemy; Loving's my friend. I am about to finish my second week in Australia and the only friend I have made was my roommate, Kimberly. Well, sort of. We talked a few times but she made friends here and goes out every day and night, enjoying Australia with her new buddies. Sometimes she doesn't even come back to the dorm at night for days!
I am sort of bitter because she is doing what I want to do, but I can't.
Other than that, she is sweet and kind.
Class has been okay, I mean, it's only been two class meetings. Even though it last about four damn hours. We meet up on Tuesdays once a week and all we do is listen to the Professor for now. She has puffy, shoulder length, light brown curly hair. She wears beaded head bands that match her skirts that touch the floor. She is really passionate about photography and wants to give us info on how she started and ended up as a successful professor. She promises that when the time comes for the project, that we will be able to finish it by the next class meeting. For now, we listen.
My phone rings as I take it into my hand. It was a text from Dae.
"Hey Lissa! Just wanted to wish you a good night/day. I am about to get some rest. Had such a long day, i'll explain the chance we get to talk. miss you, love you xoxx "
I sigh to myself. This time difference makes it hard to talk to friends and family. I have been home sick lately and not being able to talk to my friends or anybody about it makes my stomach sink further past the floor.
I end up deciding to go catch something to eat. Maybe I just need a burger. I should also take a look to see where the gym is located on campus.
I put my shoes by the door before I quickly put on my favorite pair of jeans that fit perfectly around my knees. I hate it when jeans are baggy behind the knees, it frustrates me so much.
It was warm and sunny today. Luckily, it was not unbearable like last weeks weather. It was so hot that the sprinklers were turned on in case anyone needed to freshen up on their way to class.
To avoid walking too much in the sun, I decide to walk through Armstrong's bottom floor to get to the diner near by the building. This week I found out that Armstrong is a mix building. Meaning that men and women were dormed together and I was more than glad to live in an all girls building.
I hear roars of laughter as I get close to the hobby room down the hall. Every building had a hobby room, in case you wanted to chill somewhere outside your room. Each room comes with a flat screen, DVD player and two long couches juxtaposed, unless moved.
"You moron! You lost my life, I'm down to two now!" a guy with pink spikish hair yells.
"Listen, Michael. I will get back your life just get off me and let me try eh." the one with flowy brown hair calmly responds. "Besides mate, you know how to easily get em' back. No need to flip."
My eyes widen as I watch Calum walk over to Michael to give him a pat on the back. He looks up towards the doorway I stand, still grinning from laughing with his friends.
"Sorry I was just passing through, I uh." I spoke quietly but loud enough for them to hear. "It's warm outside, thought I'd take a shortcut through here."
"It's fine, no need to apologize." Calum said in a low voice.
"I'm Ashton." The one with brown hair reaches his hand out for me to shake. Much more friendlier than Calum I see.
"He's Luke," he points at the guy, with a blonde quiff and a lip piercing, across the room on the phone. A frown appears on his face. He spots me to wave quickly with a smile but returns to the frown he had when he looks away.
"This be Michael," Michael's eyebrows raise up.
"and this is Calum."
"Hello again." Calum says and as waves once.
"Hi everyone." I speak a little bit louder than earlier.
"Where you headed?" Calum asks as the others return to their activities.
"To the Cafe-Diner, next to the old library."
"It's nice there. Marely is the best; gives us free dinners for performances." Ashton yells as he plays the video game on the screen.
"That's cool, you guy's are in a band?"
"Yeah, the lads and I." Calum points at the others.
I notice Michael giving me what seems to be a glare from the couch but I shrug it off.
"We've been together for a few years." Calum adds.
"We're local." Ashton shouts again, still keeping his attention on his game.
I smile at Calum. "Well I am sorry to have interrupted but I am sorta hungry so i should-" as I back away from the room.
"Not going to offer to join, Melissa?" Calum smirks.
"Oh I just assumed-"
"No it's fine, I was kidding." he chuckles.
"Well, I wouldn't mind if anyone wanted to come with me?" I ask all of the guys.
Luke stands up as he puts his phone in his pocket. "Sorry babe, but we gotta come up with music to produce for this weekend. Maybe next time." His broad shoulders in a slump.
"Next time then." I smile at Luke.
Calum walks over to Luke. "You got to give us a break man." Ashton says and Calum stands beside Luke.
"Look guys, we can't take breaks all the time." Luke grumbles.
"Luke chill-" Michael was cut off by Luke.
"I won't, the competition is in nine weeks. If we keep taking breaks now we'll keep up this habit and by the time the comp comes around we will be screwed and then we will die lonely."
"Mate you won't be lonely, you'll have me." Calum tells Luke.
"Shut up, Calum, I'm serious." Luke snaps at Calum as he crosses his arms.
"Luke, we'll be fine. Ashton and I worked on a few songs. We will look them over, rehearse each until we pick one and if not, you and I will work on new ones. We're gonna be fine." His tone is serious yet calm. Calum imitates Luke's posture and they end up laughing.
He sighs in defeat as he rubs his temples. "Alright, Well maybe can we look over the lyrics Calum? Just for a few minutes?"
"Sure thing." He rubbed the back of his neck as he walked towards me. "Sorry you had to see that." He whispers to me.
"It's okay but I do think I am gonna go now." I whisper back.
"Sure, see you around." He smiles at me before he heads beside Michael's side on the couch.
I back out of the room and head down the hall again.
Sitting in this diner alone was weird. It made me miss home even more and after sitting down for two hours it suddenly became dark out side and my cue to go to my dorm.
Heading towards the old library was creepy. There were hardly any cars passing by which is weird for me, considering that I come from the city. Crossing through streets to get to sidewalks was difficult because they didn't have any walking signs or lights. I feel like something could comeout of nowhere and it would hit me because I didn't see it. I take out my earphones from my purse and plug them into my phone. I go to my music player and select the last song I was listening to. "Terrible Things" by Mayday Parade blast through my earphones.
Suddenly, I felt a pair of hands tug my shoulders forcefully.
