I feel someone shake my shoulder.
"Miss you need to get off the plane."
I slowly open my eyes and groan as I look around to find out that I was the only passenger on the plane. Then it hit me, I am not with my group right now. It hasn't been an hour and I am already breaking the rules for this trip. I grab my purse and ran off. It took ten minutes to get off the plane and through the airport. I ran outside of the airport in search of my group. I saw the "Leader" getting into a van that probably lead to the school.
"Wait for me!" I call but they had already began to drive off. "Shit."
Unfortunately for me, the group leaders had taken my bags with everyone else's. The only thing I had was my cellphone and my purse. I looked to my left to find a taxi driver getting out on the left side of the vehicle. I scoot over there to ask the man if there were any Universities around here and let out a chuckle. After half an hour of speaking to the guy, he told me that he would take me to campus. We arrive in ten minutes and I was already super late. I tried to convince the man to let me pay for the ride, but he said it was nothing for a lost student.
The buildings are huge. Visibly old but fairly modern and clean in a few ways. Their stain glassed windows that had the perfect reflection of the sun was beyond beautiful and I was in pure awe with the architecture.
Since I was paying attention to the beauty of the buildings, I did not see where I was going. I bump into a person and immediately apologized. The last thing I want to do is get in a fight for an accidental bump.
"What is your problem you nit wit." hisses a girl standing before me. She had beautiful brown curls that fell to her shoulder that matched with her Hazel eyes.
"Sorry, won't happen again." I look over behind her to find a boy with fluffy dark brown hair and squishable cheeks. When he smiled at the girl in front of him his cheeks look even more squishier. His light pink lips look incredibly soft from where I stood. "Listen, I know we got off on the wrong foot but i'm new-"
"Obviously American. Your accent and clumsiness gave it away." Her tone was harsh.
" I just need to get to the Bedson building?" I look at her as she rolled her eyes like a child. "Fine." I muttered as I walked past them. I stop at a map and stare at it for a few minutes. This was going to be hard, because I didn't even know where to go. I sigh loudly to myself.
"Bedson is close. You're in Armstrong." I turn around to find the guy I had just seen a few minutes ago. He points straight ahead. "That's the way to Bedson. There will be signs to lead you for the rest." his arms falls back to his side.
"Thank you." I smile a small one and extend my hand out to him. "Melissa."
"Calum." He leaves my hand hanging there until I decide to slowly bring it back to my side. "Good luck, see you around." he walks away. I did not spot the girl anywhere but I don't care.
After two hours of sitting in the leader's office listening to her speech of possible horrible things that could have happened to me while I "disappeared" and reciting the rules and making them "clear", she finally allows me to talk.
From her office, you can see the sun setting down. It hides behind the building across Bedson, probably where the classes are. I look back at her desk as she was finishing off her speech. The desk name plate was black and had her name in capitalized white letters "Ms. Paula Lune". She looks very young, around her 30's maybe. When I first met her, her face looked tight as if it never showed emotion. Now that she's upset, you can see the crinkles appear on her forehead and around her eyes.
She looks down at a few papers on her desk and finally asks me a question.
"Why weren't you on the bus to the campus Melissa."
It was more of a demand than a question.
"I fell asleep on the plane and when I woke up no one was there. I guess no one from the group bothered to wake me up."
"It isn't anyone's responsibility except yours Melissa. You're an adult." She sneers. "Your luggage is in your room." She looks up from the papers. "I hope you know that I don't run a child care here. Be responsible for your actions and behave like an adult." Her eyes pierce through mine as I nod quickly. "You have one class to complete for this semester. It's six units, pass or fail. It goes towards your minor in art. If you don't pass this class, you basically wasted a semester that you could have taken more courses. Don't play games or lose your head." she exhales afterwards.
Ironic how I am suppose to act like an adult yet I am treat like a child.
"Yes ma'am." I respond.
"Now go."
I quietly stand up and walk out of her office. I had already knew everything she had told me in there. I know what I got into but I don't think anyone else understands. This class and professor is said to be one of the top must class to attend before you get your degree in art. It is suppose to help you figure out the secret to cover the beauty of the world.
Once I arrive to my dorm, I tip toe in darkness so that I would not wake up my roommate. I find my room and end up falling flat on my bed. I was tired from the flight still and I had not been given the chance to relax. I want to enjoy my surroundings as much as I want to do so well in this class. I tuck myself into bed with the clothes I have worn all day and close my eyes.
