Pushing the lid firmly on the cup, the barista passed me the two coffees, before serving the next customer. The little coffee shop in reception of the office building was always a life saver and made my day 100 times better. Looking at the clock, as I made my way to the elevator, I saw that it was 8.26am, four minutes.

I sighed. He was already in a crappy mood as it was for reason unknown to me, and I knew that if I was late, things would get a whole lot worse. The elevator opened, and I quickly stepped me, standing to the side to allow as much room as possible for everyone else. The elevator stopped at nearly every other floor, as 8.30am was when most people started work. Stepping out of the elevator at the top floor, I quickly rushed through the office, startling some people, before I came to the last door that led to mine and Damon's offices.

"Ms Carter?" One of the men in suits came up to me, holding a familiar looking bag, "These were sent up from reception, they are meant for you and Mr Kingston."

I nodded my head in appreciation, moving the coffees so they both sat in one hand, and took the bag with my other. I quickly rushed passed him, muttering a quick thank you and them rushed into my office, placing the coffees on the desk. I took the files out of the bag, placing them in a neat pile, and then grabbed the salary reports from my desk. Grabbing everything, I walked to the end door, knocked and then quickly slipped in.

I walked over to his desk, placing the files neatly to the left, and then the salary reports next to them, on the right. I placed his black coffee with 1 and three quarter sugars to the corner off his desk, away from the computer, and them checked to make sure everything was done.

Looking around, I realised that we wasn't in the room, but knew he had been here, because his coat had been thrown across the back of his chair. Shaking my head, I picked it up and hug it up nearly on the back of his office door, where he had hooks hanging. Taking off the fleece he had given me, I folded it neatly before placing it on the coffee table on the other side of the room.

"I thought I told you to keep it until you got yourself a coat..." A voice came from the bathroom doorway.

Jumping, I turned to see Damon standing there, arms across his chest, "It's yours and besides, we will be in the office all day, I am going to need it. Anyway, the files and salary reports you asked for are on your desk, along with your coffee."

He nodded, walking over to his desk and sitting down, quickly looking through the files, "So, are we going to do your review on Saturday after work?"

I frowned at him, "I already told you that I have plans with my family."

He glanced up at me, and then logged into his computer, "How about today then?"

I thought for a minute, remembering the rent was due today. I winced, realising how little money I would have left to last me the month. My pay day was two weeks ago and I had already given my mother her monthly money, which left me with very little. I would have to wait another two weeks for my next pay check, and I was still expected to buy myself a new smartphone and coat in two days time.

"Something the matter, Ms Carter?" Damon asked, staring at me.

I shook my head, "No, it's just that I have to meet my landlord after work tonight to pay him my rent."

"He takes cash?" He questioned, raising a brow.

"Yeah, he prefers the money face to face rather than through the bank..." I muttered.

He sighed, but relented, "Tomorrow it is then, you aren't busy are you?"

I shook my head. The only thing I had planned was watching my small, crappy TV until I fell asleep on the sofa.He nodded, them drank his coffee, smiling in satisfaction.
