"A little more touch me."

You were rushing through the cold, dark Chicago streets hoping to avoid trouble at all costs. Your job had kept you overtime and everyone knew it wasn't safe to roam the city at night due too the vampire infestation.

You were only a block away from your small apartment, calming your nerves since you didn't think any danger was lurking so close to home. You were very wrong.

Someone grabbed your wrist harshly and began dragging you to the middle of a circle full of vampires, just peachy. Just as you thought things couldn't get worst an oddly familiar face was being pushed toward your pale neck. Realization set in while the vampires were chanting encouraging words at him and you chanting your death wish.

He leaned in toward your neck and you guys made eye contact for what feels like eternity. You couldn't help but get lost in his mysterious dark eyes, you saw fear, pain and maybe a little hope swirling in his alluring orbs. Just as you thought your life was about to end, he bit the vampire who was holding him hostage.

You took your chance and began running to the nearest alley, one that still gave you a view of the chaos erupting. You should've ran home and locked your doors but oh no, you couldn't leave. You needed to know who he was and why he spared your life by putting his in danger.

He ended the fight and began walking in the other direction of where you were. You didn't give the words a second thought before they tumbled out your mouth.

"Wait!"

"What?" He grumbled, clearly annoyed.

"Who are you?"

"Pete."

"Thank you Pete." You couldn't help but flush as he began smirking, noticing the wave of attraction that hit you like a ton of bricks.

"Don't mention it, oh and your death wish was certainly an interesting one." he was about to say it aloud before you shushed him and ran home before you became dinner. Being on the menu once was enough tonight.

Who knew you almost losing your life would lead to a romance blossoming with non other than a rebel vampire who can read minds. You wouldn't have it any other way though.
