I never thought much about how life would be if I always used my powers. I mean I've used them a lot and learned more about them, but I've never used them to the limit. Now being an Avenger, I realize how much I will need to use them. I'm worried about it though. I mean what if something goes wrong and I hurt someone? Wait, that's the point. Hurt bad people and put them in jail. But what if I hurt an ally? What if I hurt- No! Stop, I tell myself. You won't hurt him, I repeat in my head. I have to calm myself down and process this. "I'm going out." I announce heading for the door. "Where? With who?" Bucky follows me to the door. "By myself I need to think." I reply. "Ok just don't be out to late." He warns. I step out of the door and walk to the exit. "Leaving?" I hear a voice behind me. I turn around and see Tony Stark. "What do you want?" I ask annoyed. I'm not in the mood for his games. "I want to know how people from your time, the 90's, made you." He gets closer to me. "I don't give out personal information like that to strangers or people I dislike." He raises his eyebrows. "Am I a stranger or a person you dislike?" He asks. I roll my eyes. "Both. Now if you excuse me I need to go." I turn to head out the door when he jumps in front of me. "Oh come on! Tell me, was it hydra?" I push past him and keep walking to the door. "Did hydra have anything to do with it?" I stop and turn to face him. "Hydra kidnapped my mom when she was pregnant with me. They did tests on her which caused me to mutate. That's how I got my powers. My parents died when I was seven. Ever since then Natasha worked for SHIELD, and I worked for Hydra. I met the Winter Soldier one day and we became alliances. Now we're here working with superhero's who don't even know their villains next move." I walk past him and head out the door into the darkness of the city street.
I hear something swoosh past my ear and hit the ground with a clink. I turn and see an arrow implanted in a patch of grass. I put my hand I front of me and the arrow lifts it's self from the ground and hovers over to me. As I inspect it I notice something engraved on the side. I turn the arrow over and see the writing:
Crossbones
I clench my fists and the arrow shatters to tiny pieces then falls to the ground. I look at every building and use my super vision to see the people inside. None of them have Crossbones in them. I look in the sky for any aircraft but see none. Then it hits me. When the Avengers attacked Loki, they had an invisible aircraft. I use my super vision again and see the massive, invisible aircraft hovering in the air. And on the edge of the platform stand the one and only villain- or should I say villains.
They throw themselves over the edge and land right I front of me shattering the ground beneath them; well at least Crossbones did. I back up stunned by their appearance. "Well it's nice to see a fellow villain." Crossbones voice is low and gruff. "Nice to see you too." I reply clutching my knife. I see a smirk spread across Loki's face. I roll my eyes at him but he still has that smirk and it annoys me. "So why are you here?" I ask them. Honestly I wasn't expecting them here. "Stop getting ready for a fight, we won't hurt you." He says. I notice I'm in a low position and slowly lift myself up. I point my knife at Loki, "how do I know he won't?" Crossbones looks at Loki then at me. "Because he follows my orders." He responds. I narrow my eyes then let out a small laugh. "What's so funny?" Loki asks confused. "Nothing." I say with a smile which makes me laugh again. "Seriously why are you laughing?" He asks. I think he's getting angry and I wouldn't want that so I stop laughing and explain. "It's just that, I never thought I'd see you, a God, take orders from an Archer!" I exclaim letting another laugh escape. He points his scepter at me, but Crossbones makes him put it down. "We understand that you have contact with the Winter Soldier." Says Crossbones. I've now stopped laughing and look him in the eye. "I do, what do you need if him?" I ask. "We want you and the Winter Soldier to join us against the Avengers." I raise an eyebrow. "Us help you take down the avengers?" He nods, yes. "No thanks, we work alone." I turn and walk off. "Then why are you working with the Avengers?" I hear Crossbones call out. I stop in my tracks. I know what their doing and I'm not falling for it. "Why on earth do you think I'd work with superheroes I've been against forever?" I ask them. "Prove it. Bring us the head of an Avenger, then we'll believe you." He said smirking. "Making me do your dirty work, huh? Why because you aren't able to fight six superheroes who don't even have half as much power as you do?" Suddenly Loki disappeared then reappeared a foot away from me. "They didn't defeat me!" He said in a low angry voice. "Oh right I'm so sorry, I must correct myself," I saw him start to smile with pride, "the Hulk defeated you, Iron Man took out the mother ship of the Chitauri, and Black Widow closed the portal." I said making him even angrier than before. "In time you'll learn not to mess with me you foolish mortal!" He spat as he pointed the scepter at my chest. He was about to tap it to my chest when I smacked it away. A confused look spread across his face. "Can you not?" I say. He points it again at my chest and tries to tap my chest. "What are you doing? Stop!" I said annoyed. I smacked it away again. He grew furious. He grabbed my neck and threw me across the street. I teleported back in the same spot I was before. "That wasn't very nice." I say with a surprised look. I'm pretty sure my sarcasm was making mad. That's exactly what I want. He points the scepter at me and it start to glow blue suddenly a blue ball hurls at me from the scepter. I take two steps to the side as the ball flies past me. "Oh so that's how it is?" I mumble to myself. I get closer to Loki making a plan in my head. "You know," I say to him, "I was planning a simple walk in the park by myself but," I click the blue button on my wristband and suddenly I'm in my suit. "You could join me if you like." He throws another ball of energy at me. I disappear when it hits me then reappear behind him. I kick his back making him face plant onto the cement. He rolls over and points the scepter at me. I grab it from him and inspect it. "You know," I begin, putting a foot on his chest, "I could use this backscratcher. Roasting marshmallows at bon fires, drawing in dirt when I'm bored," I trace the outline of his face, "killing villains." I taunt. He smirks. "So you are working with the Avengers." I smirk, too. "You deserve a sticker!" I say enthusiastically. "I thought you were dead." I say in confusion. "I have my ways." He replies not amused. I roll my eyes and disappear from him then reappear in front of SHIELD.
When I walk in I go straight to the lab where I see Bruce Banner, Tony Stark, and Thor. "Gentlemen." I greet. They all look at me in surprise, probably not expecting me there. "I brought you a souvenir from three blocks down." I say handing them the backscratcher. Tony smiles at me. "You know I could get along with you." He put an arm around my shoulder. "Remember what happened last time you touched me, playboy?" I ask giving him a glare. He slowly takes his hand away as a nervous smile appears on his face. "Well thank you for this toy I'll enjoy it!" Bruce says to me. "Your very welcome." I walk past them and out of the room. When I get back to our room, Bucky's eyes are glued to the tv. "Hey Bu-" he puts his finger up to his mouth. "Shhhhhh" his eyes go back to the tv. I sit next to him to see what he was watching. I roll my eyes. "You should've invited Steve if your going to do that." I say. "I just started watching! And yeah I was going to do that." He says. He walks out the door and a few minutes later walks in with Steve, Tony, and Clint. "Gee why didn't you bring the rest of the group?" I say when I see them. "They were busy." Tony answers. "Rhetorical question Tony." I say rolling my eyes for the 30th time today. If Tony makes me roll my eyes so much, this is going to be a harder job than I thought. "I'm going to find Natasha." I say walking out of the room. "Have fun with your Baseball marathon." I call over my shoulder. They nod in response. I walk down the huge halls to the lab where I see Bruce. I walk in to see what he's doing. "Hey Bruce." I greet. He looks up at me through his glasses. "Oh hey have you seen Tony? Or Steve?" I nod. "They're all watching Baseball. Tony, Steve, Clint, and Bucky." I reply. He sighs and takes of his glasses. "Oh ok." He says getting back to work. "Do you need any help?" I ask walking behind a computer. "Uh no not really." He says working on the scepter. I mess with somethings on the computer and manage to get on the internet. I think of a game I could play. I type in the letters of an old game, Poptropica. It was my favorite as a kid, and still is. I don't even notice that Bruce is staring at me surprised. "What?" I ask looking up. "You got internet on that?" He asks in amazement. "Uh yeah was I not supposed to?" I ask innocently. "No it's just I've tried and it never worked." He walks next to me as I continue playing my game. I'm surprised that I still remembered my username and password. Also that Bruce didn't know he could get internet on this computer. "Have you seen Tasha?" I ask him after a while. "Yeah she said she was going to work out, she may still be there." He replies still working on the scepter. "Ok thanks, I'm going to find her." He nods as I walk out the door.
As I look through the window of the gym, I see Natasha talking with someone. I recognize the man as Thor. I slip in the gym, invisibly, to hear they're conversation. "So I heard we have two new people joining the group, know who they are?" He picks at his hammer as he responds. "The Winter Soldier is one of them, and then another girl but i don't know her name." He shakes his head as she takes a sip of her water. "Oh I know who she is. It's just, she's a villain, why would Fury want a villain to help kept the world at peace? I mean they're the ones who destroyed it!" He nods at her comment. "But they could've changed, I mean Loki changed and helped me so why wouldn't they do the same? I'm pretty sure they're not as bad Loki." She scoffs. "Of course they're not as bad him he killed 80 people in two days." He throws his head back and laughs. "Come on Fury wanted to see us." He leads her out of the room. I run out to the hallway. I need to find Bucky, that reminds me, where is he? Is he still in the room? I run into someone and turn visible, on accident. I look up and see Steve. He holds out his hand which I take and he pulls me up. "You really shouldn't do that it's not safe." I shake my head while dusting myself off. "I'm not safe, Steve. Im still not used to this whole 'save the world from Loki and Crossbones' thing." I say annoyed. No one here gets me, except Bucky, whom I need to find. "Well you still shouldn't run invisibly down the halls. Many people walk them." Why didn't I run through him? Why did he stop me? Oh no. This is bad. My eyes widen, "where's Bucky?" I ask clutching my stomach. "He's still in his room watching baseball, why?" I push him aside and run to our room.
