I open the door and see the men with eyes glued to the tv. "Bucky?" He looks at me and smiles. "Hey Diamond, what's the matter?" He gets up and walk closer to me. "It's starting again." His smile fades as he clenches his jaw. "How do you know?" I sigh and look at the ground. "My powers aren't working." I whisper. He puts his arms around my waist and pulls me in for a hug. I feel a tear slide down my cheek. This is the worst moment for it to start. When 'it' starts, I lose my powers for a month. They power up and then I get them back. I lose my powers every five years, but since I'll be using them a lot more, the years will go down. During this period, my skin turns a shade darker and my hair turns white. My eyes become black and I get weaker. "Just tell Fury, he'll know how to handle it." I nod and pull away from the hug. "I'll go right now." I walk in the bathroom and look in the mirror. The roots of my hair are already white and spreading fast. I run out the door to Fury's office. When I walk in, he's sitting on a chair messing with a hard drive. "Nick?" He looks up from the hard drive. "Oh Diamond. How can I help you." I sigh and start telling him. "That's just it, I don't know if you can help me." He looks at me in puzzlement. "Every five years, I lose my powers for a month. But since I'll be using them more, the years will go down. They power up and then I get them back. During that period of time I become weak, my hair turns white, my skin becomes a shade darker, and my eyes turn black." He listens and nods slightly at most of the words. "This is that month." I finish. He looks up at me and sighs loudly. "So you won't be able to help?" I shake my head, no. I look at the ground waiting for him to get mad at me. It's not my fault I can't keep my powers forever! "Your dismissed." He says in a low voice. I nod and exit his room.

Washington DC looks a lot prettier at night. Walking the streets past national monuments. It's beautiful. I take a seat on a bench enjoying the silence, while it lasts. I decide that I've been out long enough and that Bucky might be worried sick, so I head back. Sometimes people never learn their lessons the first time they try something so they'll keep doing it until they do. I say that because walking back to HQ, I encountered Loki and Crossbones. Again. But this time I was scared straight out of my mind. My hair was all white, except an inch at the bottom. That meant that I had one power left and if I used it to the limit, I would lose it forever. And I couldn't risk that. "Well, well, well. If it isn't the Snowflake's girlfriend." Snowflake=Bucky, WINTER Soldier. I get it. I laugh at that cute nickname. I may use it sometimes, I think to myself. "Look, I don't want any trouble from Katniss, or her reindeer." I say, realizing it was a mistake. Curse my need for sarcasm. "Well you aren't doing a very good job of preventing it, you know." Loki says in rude tone. "Look I'm sorry, I just don't want any trouble, ok? Can I please go home? Without you following me?" I ask backing away. "Oh we couldn't possibly let you go home without a scar to show off, now could we?" I back up even more. I look at my hair and see that it has a centimeter until it's fully white. I need to get back now. I use the last bit of my ice powers and freeze Loki and Crossbones. I fall to the ground breathing heavily. I look at my hair and see that it has half a centimeter to go. I sigh in relief, I didn't loose my ice power. I get up and use the time I have to run to HQ. I burst through the doors and run to Fury's office. "I have Loki and Crossbones!" I say when I open the doors to his room. He gets up and walks towards me. "Where are they? How d'you get 'em?" He asks quickly. "I froze them in front of the Lincoln Monument." He pushes me aside and runs to a jet. "Get me agent Hill. And get a plane ready." He says to Coulson. "Yes sir." Fury makes his way to the plane and says something else to Phil. He looks over at me and motions for me to follow him. We get on the plane, then seconds later the rest of the team gets on along with agent Hill and Coulson. We ride for a couple of minutes as Fury explains what to do. When the doors open, we jump out and see Loki and Crossbones still frozen. The whole team hauls them onto the plane. I stay behind and stare at the puddle of water on the floor. I don't want anyone to see the transformation. "You coming?" I hear Natasha ask from behind. "Uh no I'll catch up." I say not turning around. No one has-or ever will-see the transformation. I see my hair start to glow a golden red. My veins glow a bright turquoise, and my eyes black out. The transformation was beginning.

<<<Bucky's POV>>>

I stayed behind because I saw Diamond stay. I wanted to see what she was doing. I noticed her hair was all white. I didn't think she had the transformation yet. I stood behind her as her hair began to glow a golden red. It scared me. Then I saw her veins glow a very bright turquoise. Oh no, I thought to myself, I shouldn't be here. The transformation was beginning. And I was the first one to see it happen.

<<<Diamond's POV>>>

I felt my heart beat faster and faster. My hair was beginning to turn red like Natasha's and my eyes were turning black. I fell to my knees and gasped for air. I really used my powers a lot this time. The lights disappeared and everything grew dark again. I was still on my knees and my heart was beating fast. After a few minutes my breathing came back and my heart slowed. I got up and dusted myself off. I turned around and looked up. I saw Bucky standing there with wide eyes. Did he just... No! That's impossible why would he have stayed? "Bucky what are you doing here?" I ask walking up to him. "I saw the transformation." He says in disbelieve. "You weren't supposed to! I told you no one has or ever will see it! Why did you stay?" I ask angrily. "Because I saw you stay! I thought something was wrong so I stayed just in case, but then you lit up like a Christmas tree!" He explains innocently. I don't know why I'm not angrier at him. I feel bad for keeping it from him, he deserved to see it. "I'm sorry I didn't show you before. It's just that, I was..." I sigh. "It's just that I was scared of what you might think." I whisper looking down. He puts his hand under my chin and lifts my head. "It's ok. I knew you were scared. I was too when I saw you glowing." He says softly. He engulfs me in a hug. "By the way," he says putting his chin on my head, "you look great with red hair." I can almost feel him smirking. I let out a small chuckle. "Thanks." I mumble into his chest. "We should be getting back to HQ. I wanna interview Crossbones real bad." I smile and pull away from the hug. "Ok, let's go." I start walking to HQ with Bucky by my side. Let's see what the bastards have to say for themselves.
