In the previous chapter.....

"This city is in danger. We need someone to protect us," the guy said.
__________________________________________________________My mom looked at me and said, "Oh, Lillian! This is Mr. Dunlap. He is warning us about someone that is hurting people and destroying buildings all around this city. And if we don't find someone or something to stop them, we're all in danger."

I took a breath to stop myself from panicking and said, "Does anyone know who this person is?" Mr. Dunlap stood up, dusting off his suit and said, "No, not yet. All we know is that they're not from here. We do a count of the people every year to a proximate of 274 people, including you guys. Every year, it rounds up to the same number. And whenever someone moves here, they have to make a rearrangement with the governor. Whoever this person is, they do not belong here."

Mr. Dunlap walked to the door and said, "I apologize for this crisis, and if I startled you guys. Farewell." He walked out, closing the door behind him. I looked at mom with frightment in my eyes as my mom said, "Honey, don't worry. These people will get everything under control."

Lucas came in from the kitchen and said, "Not that I was eavesdropping, but....what are we gonna do if they don't get this stuff under control?" I rolled my eyes as my mom said, "We're just gonna have to move." I got anger at the fact that we just moved here, I already great friends, I love it here, and now we're probably gonna have to move just because someone is stupid enough to get themselves in trouble by tormenting the city.

I walked upstairs and walked into my bedroom. I sat on my bed and started thinking.......

Maria called me and said, "Hey, girlfriend. Wanna hang out?" I answered directly, "Sorry, but no. I wanna keep checking online to see if anymore people read my book......And they did! Oh Yeah!" Maria clenched her jaw and said, "Whatever, Lilly. By the way, I don't think we should hang out, anyway." I stopped her from hanging up and said, "Why, Maria?"

She sighed and said, "You never wanna hang out with me all because of that stupid book. It's just a book. I am your.....well, was your best friend. You kept blowing me off, so there's no point in this friendship." I told her to not do this right before she hung up.

I really didn't want to, but I had to go to school. I walked in the doors to see Maria hanging out with one of the most irritating girls in this place. I turned to open my locker to the thought of why she would be hanging out with Hannah. She hates her even more than what I hate her, and that's saying something.

I looked at her again and saw her kissing my crush. She knew I liked him. She didn't even like him until she found out that I like him. I slammed my locker as she walked up to me and said, "It's not nice to feel betrayed, does it?" I clenched my jaw and said, "You, mother fucker."
__________________________________________________________I snapped my out of my thoughts and noticed that my lights were flickering. I looked up at it and all of a sudden, it stopped.

I looked at my TV and noticed a sudden glitch. I walked closer to it as it continued. I sat on my knees and looked at the glitching effect. I reached my hand out and touched the TV with my pointer finger. I felt an electricity go through my body, causing me to quickly pull away......
