Aryanna awoke as her door was thrown open.

"Surprise" her mother shouted. " I've brought your dress fitting to you. Every single one of them are made by a French top designer. How I wish my mother would have done something for me like this." Her mother said gazing at all the dresses the servants had brought in. "Up, up, up take of all your clothes and lets start trying them one.

They were all gorgeous and every single one of them were gold. Since it was shadowhunter custom for a bride to be in gold. Gold is the purest metal after all.

They began to put the dresses on Ary. At first she would look at the dress and give her mother her opinion but after a little while Aryanna realized that her mother wasn't listening to her.

She became tired fast, and made the mistake of locking her knees to try and stay standing up under the heavy weight of one of the princess gowns her mother had put on her.

The next thing Aryanna knew she was waking up on the floor.

"Oh my Aryanna how many times do I have to tell never lock your knees."

" Sorry mother."

"It's alright dear at least your alright and I've already decided that is the dress anyways. We'll leave you for a little while to admire the dress and to rest before we take it off."

As soon as her mother left the room Aryanna stood up and headed to the balcony without even looking at the dress. As she looked out over the balcony she spotted Lance looking up gazing at her. With in seconds he began to climb the rope Aryanna had left hanging off her balcony last time she had snuck out.

"What are you doing?" Aryanna frowned as Lance made it to the top.

"Why do you have rope hanging from your balcony?" Lance smirked.

"I used it to sneak out," Ary laughed, Lance loved her laugh.

"Why do you have a gold dress," Lance glared, looking her over.

The dress looked good. It hung nice on her, a bit tight but puffed out toward the ends. It surly shimmered against her skin. Sparkles erupting from certain points.

"I'm getting married soon," Aryanna said looking down.

"Why," Lance asked, his tone dropping.

"My parents thought it was a good idea," she said sitting on her bed. Lance followed her and sat across from her.

"Do you not want to wait on your mate?" Lance smiled sickly. He became pissed at the fact she was marrying just anyone.

"I can't wait one something that doesn't exist," Aryanna said icly as her glare melted into the floor and then turned to Lance.

Lance didn't know what was her problem. She shouldn't marry a prick, might as well one who isn't for her. She belong to him and she wan't even going to believe it. He would prove it to her!

He raced, pinning her against her bedroom wall. She tried to move but couldn't, her eyes coming up to meet his now grey ones. It was scary but also a buetiful

thing. "A mate is your other half."

Aryanna gritted her teeth," I refuse to believe in something that couldn't possibly exist."

"If you and me exist," Lance breathed," Why can't you believe in mates?"

"I don't know," Ayanna said, she was giving up.

"Do you know how to tell if someone is your mate," Lance asked but Aryanna didn't respond," When they're around you, you have to steal glances at them."

"When you hear someone else say their name, you want to run and go find them."

"You can't stand the fact that someone else would be able to spend they're life with them but not you."

"You want to find out everything you can about them, their favorite color, their favorite food, their favorite song, their favorite place, their favorite thing to do,

the-" Lance explained all this in grave detail while Aryanna remained quiet, until Lance had finally moved so close to her that he was hurting her.

"Your hurting me," Aryanna paused," Lance."

Lance backed off and went over to her balcony," When they say your name, it feels like heaven."

Aryanna looked down blushing, she knew what he meant. She felt so cold now that Lance had moved, but that meant nothing. Sure she went to talk to his father

and she knows all his siblings names but that was just shadowhunter curiousity. Mates did not exist, shadowhunters breed to make the nest. We are creatures that

put our lives on the lines. We don't have selfishness, we are not meant to be happy.

"Think about it," Lance said moving to kiss her cheek then disappearing with only her name like a whisper in the wind.
