Her feet had felt as if they were on engulfed by flames from walking so long. But for some reason it didn't bother her. The pain reminded her she was still alive. Something she wasn't quite so sure of these days.
Though it caused a sense of ease within her, she knew that she couldn't carry on like this. Plopping herself amongst the wasteland. She looked at night sky that resided where the sun had been not too long ago. She smiled for the first time in ages.
"Something is so beautiful about the stars tonight" she thought to herself. Even through the horrific outburst today she still managed to find one thing that made the trip worth while. Her eyelids began to feel heavy, as her consciousness drifted away. Rolling herself into a ball, she fell asleep under the stars.Suddenly, the sky had gone ablaze. Followed with waves of ash. The air had become damp with smoke causing May to drown in a cloud of black. Crushing herself in. The roar of the sky had masked any other sound. Blocking out the crying of even the most devoted mothers calls.
"Mom!" May choked out. There was no hope now as she felt her skin sizzling. Screaming in pain May grasped her arm to find her skin peeling off her body. Gasping for air she reached out to the sky. Though it had only been a few mere seconds. May had felt like she was under that blanket of agony for decades.
Then, a sudden burst of light. Awakening May from her tormented nightmare, was the sun's heat beating down on her.
May swiftly lifted the arm of her jacket to find the same scars. A sick reminder of what happened that day. She sighed. "Too bad it wasn't all a dream."
