Jane's POV
I have fond memories of watching cartoons all day long. I can clearly remember the morning Nickelodeon debuted and I spent every Saturday morning firmly planted in front of the screen watching my favorite shows. I may not remember the names of all the state capitols, but I can still sing the theme from Hey Arnold!.
But right now seeing my two kids were captivated by the modern day cartoon playing on the TV makes me worried. Just now I realized that I have been letting Noah and Ellie spent too much time watching TV and playing iPad.
Looking out from the balcony I saw the sun filtered through the clouds, signaling the end of the rain. A golden glow spread across the sky as the sun chased the dark clouds. I was supposed to go out today with my office mates, we plan to have a little break after a tough week at the office. Unfortunately, William and I have decided that weekends are for family. It is the only time we get to spend the day together since we all will be busy during weekdays; me and William have to work while Ellie and Noah goes to school.
"Babe, it's okay. Really, you should go. You need it after working so hard." William told me for the tenth time.
I sighed and frowning slightly. I was worried to leave William alone with the kids since I know how handful those two kids could be but William has assured me that they will be fine.
"I don't know Will, they can be pretty hard to handle sometimes. Are you sure you can handle them alone?" I asked William while looking at Ellie and Noah who are still watching their favorite show on TV.
William looked at me bewildered. "Really Jane? Don't you have a little faith at me? They are my kids, of course I know how to look for them. Now go, your friends must have been waiting for you long enough. If you bail on them they probably think you're such a boring person."
I gasped at him. "Hey! I am not boring. I know how to have fun. I'm just worried about your guys lunch--"
"Oh please. I know how to make lunch Jane. I'm not that useless. What kind of dad would I be if I could not even prepare a meal for my kids." William said proudly.
I huffed once more, this time in annoyance. I knew that he was right, but I still couldn't help frowning as I looked down at the sight of Ellie and Noah. I looked at the clock and saw that I still have 20 minutes before the time that I promised to meet my office mates.
"Okay, I'll go but you have to promise me that you will call me if anything happens or if you just need me at home. I'll be on my way right away." I told William sternly.
William let out a laugh. "Oh thank god, she finally made up her mind!" he joked. I slapped his arm but he still had that amusing smile on his face. "Alright I'm sorry. Don't worry babe I'll call you if I need anything but you also have to promise me that you'll have fun with your friends and don't worry too much about us at home."
I nodded at his words even though I know that the moment I step out from the house I would probably call William to ask about the kids.
"I should get going now." I said as I get up from the couch, standing up on my toes and lean in to kiss my kids on their head. "Good bye kids, I'll be out for a while. Be good with your daddy, don't give your daddy a hard time okay. I love you two so much."
