Emma
I sat across from Harry in the same cafe he happened to run into Anna and I when we had first been to London, nearly two years ago. My fingers tightly gripped my hot cup of tea as Harry and I sat in unbroken silence. I think we were both waiting for the other to speak first. Our eyes darted up and down and all around, occasionally stealing glances at one another. But I had figured since it was Harry who came for me, not allowing me to leave without a fight, he should be the one to speak first. Luckily he thought so too, a few moments later he broke the silence.
"I had everything I wanted to tell you all figured out for months but now... I can't seem to find the words that will make you stay," he said, looking at me straight on no longer pretending to be distracted.
I thought for a moment, of what words could possibly convince me to that a life with Harry was better than a life without him. The words, it turned out, were quite simple.
"Tell me you still love me and I'll stay," I whispered glancing up at him from beneath my long eyelashes. Harry dipped his head down, but his smile was still visible somehow.
"The feelings I have for you I can't explain. They're deeper than love. I swear you are everything I need and that won't ever change," he explained to me. I couldn't help but laugh.
"I just needed a simple I love you, but I suppose that will have to suffice," I smirked playfully.
"You deserve more than a simple I love you. Even though it is true. I do love you," he smiled adoringly at me.
"Hook, line and sinker," I laughed softly as my cheeks heated up with a red blush.
"What does that mean?"
"That I'm yours. That I'll stay."
"Mine," he whispered, a large and ridiculously happy smile spreading across his lips.
"Yours," I reached across the table and held onto his hand tightly, planning to never let go of it, of him, ever again. "I love only you."
"Good. Because as I stated once before months ago, you're it for me Emma. Nobody will ever compare to you in my eyes."
I looked up at him, my smile quickly mirroring his, until it faltered. "But what about Amelia?" I asked as the thought passed through my mind over again.
Harry's smile crumbled as well. His framing eyebrows pulled together as if he were in pain, maybe he was. For a second he broke eye contact, right before sighed heavily.
"There's really no excuse for my behavior between March and now. I... drank, was careless, and I tried to numb my pain in any way I could besides doing drugs. I never slept with anyone, I promise, but I'm not saying there weren't any chances," he began.
I pulled my lower lip between my lip and bit down. Before I give in to doubt and walk away again, I have to listen to his side, I told myself.
"I was a wreck, utterly heartbroken. I won't lie. But I couldn't sleep with anyone, let alone kiss them. They all tried... but my love for you it burns so bright that I can't dim it with any amount of alcohol. Amelia was.. someone I began hanging out with to try to get everyone to shut up about my needing to move on. I don't like her. She's very self centered and there's not a lot of serious conversations to be shared with her."
"You never liked her," I reiterated.
"No," he confirmed. "Emma, I'm sorry I couldn't hold myself together better."
"Harry don't worry about it, let's put it in the past all right? Because I didn't hold myself together any better than you did. I locked myself in my room. I didn't go to work regularly, once I didn't go for three straight weeks. I only have my job still because Cameron is very understanding and compassionate. My world had crumbled and I couldn't fix it. Not without you."
"You have me now so it can be fixed to what it was before it crumbled."
"No. It can be fixed to better than it was," I smiled, leaning across the table and kissing Harry softly on his pink heart shaped lips.
"Oh, good," he mumbled into the kiss happily.
Harry
"Louis!" I shouted gleefully into his flat. I ran around until I found him in his closet half dressed.
"What is it Harry?" he asked, a knowing smile on his face as I tackled him to the carpeted floor.
"She's all mine, my girlfriend! Nobody else can have her because she loves me!" I laughed happily.
"It was inevitable," Louis laughed with me.
"Don't ruin my moment. I'm tremendously happy right now."
"I know you are mate, and I'm happy for you. But I think what you should do now is go annoy your girlfriend and leave me be so I can get ready for a date with mine whom I haven't seen in a week."
"Fine, only because I miss her already. Have a good time, man," I pushed myself up off the floor, pulling Louis up with me.
I walked back to my flat and fell backwards onto my couch beside Emma. "What movie shall we indulge in tonight? The Amazing Spider-man or Thor: The Dark World?"
"What about Love Actually?" Emma smiled happily at me
"Whatever you want, kitten," I replied with a kiss to her lips. I was quickly becoming accustomed to the light fluttery feeling I got in my stomach every time I kissed Emma. I hope the feeling never goes away.
She snuggled deep into my side and pressed play.
"You put it in before you asked me?" I looked down at her.
"Yes, because I know you like the movie and besides, you can't say no to me," she smiled adorably childish.
"Very true," I agreed kissing her on her lips again. When I pulled away she pouted and didn't stop until I kissed her for a third time. She was the one to pull away this time once she finally got her fill. Her eyes met mine and I couldn't help but smile because of how happy she makes me.
I know it took longer than I expected or hoped it would, but I finally figured out Emma. She's a girl who protects those she loves. She's an avid surfer who lives to ride even the most dangerous waves. She enjoys superhero movies and romantic comedies the most but she is still up to watch horror films. She's strong despite her weaknesses. She's not one to open up easily and that's okay, because once you find out the truth it would be immensely hard to hold a grudge against her. She's stubborn and has her own opinion on things, which she's not afraid to share with you. But most of all Emma was my missing piece all along, and maybe I was hers as well.
