Lauren's pov
I couldn't help it. I had to call someone. Annie would freak out, Carson wouldn't believe me, Johnny already wants to beat him up, and Hayden would be in jail for murder. So I called her, I called my old best friend, Mackenzie Ziegler. It rang four times and I almost considered ending the call but then she picked up.
"Hey Laur what's up"
"Um nothing much how are you"
"Good, what about you"
After that I told her everything. All about Hayden and I liking each other forever and then finally dating. Johnny being all depressed and moody. Annie and Carson making out every chance they get, and finally everything that happened with Gregg. The next thing I knew she was sitting beside me in my room and we were together like old times.
"I'm really sorry Lauren", she said looking at my blanket.
"It's not your fault, don't say you're sorry"
"I know but I'm sorry it happened"
"Thanks"
"I'll go get you something to drink." She got off my bed and started walking downstairs. As much as i hate the way she ditched us I really missed her.Kenzie's pov
I still remember their house like that back of my hand so finding the kitchen was a breeze. As I was getting a cup out of the cabinet I heard someone come up behind me. When we were kids someone sneaking up behind you at the Orlando's meant you were about to get scared, sprayed with something, or attacked. This time wasn't really that much different. There stood John Vincent Orlando.
"Why are you in my kitchen?" he questioned.
"I'm here for Lauren"
"Why? You haven't been for the past year"
"I'm sorry ok"
"You must really like Brandon if you were willing to ditch us for him"
"I guess I did". I stared at my shoes. I couldn't look at him. It was easy to ditch them because I could just avoid them but now standing in the Orlando's kitchen I realize what a mistake I made.Johnny's pov
I couldn't believe Mackenzie was standing in my kitchen right now. Last time she was here she was telling Lauren all about her new boyfriend. A few days later she stopped sitting with us at lunch, then our texts for fewer, and now we barely even speak unless we have to. What does she mean "did" like Brandon a lot.
"What do you mean did." I looked over and saw her staring at floor. She's done that everytime she gets upset since we were kids. When Carson stole her favorite sweatshirt I swore she could've told me the exact number of threads in her shoe laces. She didn't look up at me but shrugged. "Kenz". I took a step closer I hadn't realized how far away I was standing.
"What Johnny"
"Do you not like Brandon"
"He's my boyfriend, of course I do"
"You said 'did'"
"I meant do"
"No you didn't." I sat on the kitchen counter and motioned for her to sit next me. She sat kinda far away but I didn't mind it was just nice to be with her again.
"Ok maybe I'm kinda tired of him"
"Really! Why?" I may be an awful person for this but I was so happy to here her say that.
"He's just so overbearing and he thinks he controls me"
"No one can control you"
"He gets mad when I talk to other guys"
"You're kidding". Kenzie kinda smiled at that. She looks so pretty when she smiled I almost kissed her but then I remembered something. Brandon.
"We never agree on anything and all he ever wants to do is make out"
I could've screamed. Brandon Rowland does not get to make out with her. I cringed at the thought they already had.
"Mackenzie a pretty girl like doesn't deserve to be treated like that."
She blushed and I smiled.
"You think I'm pretty?"
Boy she has no clue.
"Of course I do" I got off the counter and started walking back upstairs. "Night Kenzie"Kenzie's pov
