One.

I woke up sore all over with a throbbing headache. The room I was in was quite familiar and I guess that made me glad. I would try not to get kicked out of school before I even started. I looked around and found my clothes on the ground, I put them on even if they smelled like Alcohol. It was already seven-forty-five and my first class started at eight-oh-five.

I slumped forward and felt a familiar ache in my back. It was my wolf. I hadn’t released her in weeks—the more I released her, the more my scent would be released into the wild, and who knew if the bastard was still alive.

Every day, I trained harder, worked faster. I did everything. I deposited the money in my won bank account and changed my name—back…home, I was known as Gabrielle English—it was his last name. I decided to change it back to Brandt, my mother’s maiden name. I used all the power I had within me to create a whole new identity.

I’d gotten kicked out of two schools because of the fights I got into. I hated it when people touched me—my wolf was stronger than me and whenever I was vulnerable, they would take action against me and take over my body. I didn’t completely shift though, thank the universe.

“Elle?” my roommate, Corrine was already out, she gave me a wide smile and went back to the kitchen. I could smell the bacon and eggs, yum. Corrine was like me—she was a wolf, difference was, she didn’t want to be.

I loved being a wolf—it made my being. I was strong and I knew I was wanted. Corrine knew about my past—we told each other because she saved me in the woods when I was nearly killed by other rogues. I was still weak then.

“Morning, Corey. You all good?” I asked, taking some bacon and eggs. I poured myself a cup of OJ before she stared at me…she was hiding something from me. In fact, I hadn’t seen her for two days.

Corey and I didn’t really talk about where we went and why. We both payed half of the rent and didn’t ask about one another’s business. She knew my past was horrible—sick, she said that no one deserved it. She was right—now the bastard was dead.

The reason why I still hadn’t returned home was simple: No way would I relive my past. It was not gorgeous, not happy. I would start far away where no one would notice me. I landed at Ohio. I sighed, shaking my head as I ate my breakfast.

Corey looked at me strangely—as if she didn’t know whether or not to tell me something. I knew that look—she didn’t know either if it was a good thing or bad thing. “You need to tell me something.” She nodded. “Spit it out.”

Oops. Though I knew I was more powerful than her—my strongest was manipulation. I could manipulate people and make them feel things that they didn’t really feel. I figured that when I got a free room at a nice hotel with all the extras. It was a sick power but I tried hard not to use it too much. I heard the Luna in me—the Alpha Female in me, making Corey have to tell me. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to force it out of you. Spit it out please.

“There’s a pack here—they came all the way from Canada.” There was more and she wasn’t telling me. Huh, I tried to use my other power—it wasn’t as strong as the manipulation but it was strong enough to get some answers.

I hated to dig in her head but I just had to. I gasped and heard her too. Her eyes were wide and she knew I dug into her head but she didn’t defy me. It was the Alpha effect. “You’re mated.”

She nodded and bit her lip. Her cheeks were tinged red. “Not officially but we’ve created a link. I can even talk to him now…I love him...I know…I know you don’t trust them but they’re really nice…”
