EDITED CHAPTER
"Hey, Y/n! Wake up!" I pull my blanket over my head in annoyance. "Go away!" I shout at my twin sister. I turn over to my side to fall back asleep, then I feel a sudden heavy weight on me. "Get the hell off me S/n!"
"Not until you get up, you lazy bum!" She shouts back. "Fine!" I push her off with great force, I'm pretty strong for my size, even though I'm 13 years old, don't mess with me. "Okay, Gosh, didn't have to push me that hard!" She laughs. "It's not respectful to treat your older twin like that." I got out of bed making my way over to the bathroom. "You're older by one minute!" S/n leaves to go downstairs I'm assuming.
I walk into the bathroom rubbing my eyes, I stand in front of the mirror and have a good long look. "Probably being born first didn't give me enough time to have the pretty genes, no wonder why he rejected me." It's pretty weird calling myself ugly while I have a twin sister that looks the exact same but, she looks better than me, it's not like we're identical.
I came out of the bathroom feeling quite sad about myself, I went downstairs to be greeted by my mom and S/n. I took a seat where a plate of pancakes was placed, I wasn't feeling hungry but I picked at them. "Morning Y/n." Mom rubs my head as she took a sip of her morning coffee. "How did you sleep? It was quite calming last night, but you went to bed very late." I lazily smile. "I slept well, it felt like I had the full 8 hours." I look at the pancakes in front of me, I push the plate away, sighing. "It's weird, I'm actually not hungry now, I'll eat it later though." I tried my best to make my voice sound natural to not be asked questions, I look at mom to see that she seem to not notice, I look over at S/n to see her with a worried face, I slightly smile at her.
"I have something to tell you two." Mom rests down her coffee cup, getting both of our attention. "I've been thinking you two need to get a job." She said in all seriousness. "What!" S/n shouts in surprise nearly falling out of her chair. "J-Job?" I mumble. "I'm sorry but, there is no way I'm letting you two sit here and do nothing all summer." She stands up to walk to the sink to wash the dishes. "But Mom, you know we don't deal with sunlight, we're basically vampires." S/n said I nod in agreement as if going to school wasn't enough, I hate interaction.
"That's why you have a night time job." At this point, I'm thinking my mom has lost her mind, a night time job for 13-year-olds? Never heard of it! "So Mom, there are things called rape, kidnapping, murder, you know? Things that happen in today's society." I didn't even know leaving your kids alone at night at a job was legal. "I know, but you would be in a building." She says. "Someone could still break in?" She shakes her head. "Trust me, I talked with the owner and the place is one hundred percent safe." Even though, why employ kids? "How to leave your kids alone at night and possibly in great danger 101." S/n chuckles, I laugh. "Well, I also talked to F/n's mom and she thought it was fine, so she's joining you two."
"Oh my gosh, you guys are trying to kill us." I facepalm. "Whatever, what's dad's response to this?"I ask afterward. "Well had the same response as you basically, but of course, he gave in after a while because I kept begging him." She replies with. "Even better, dad can't even change your mind." Mom was always the type to have her way, even if it was ridiculous. "The shift starts next week." Mom was about to walk away but I stopped her. "Wait! You didn't tell us where we work." She smiles. "It's a secret." She puts her index finger towards her mouth, then walks upstairs.
"That's not a good sign if she says that." S/n said going to the living room, she sits on the couch and pats a spot next to her indicting for me to take a seat. I sigh and sit on the spot. "Are you still thinking about it?" She asked in a serious manner. I knew what she was talking about, I awkwardly play with my fingers, nodding. "Come on Y/n, get over him, he's ugly anyway, he doesn't deserve you." She crosses her arms, I don't respond to her, I just look at her. "Look Y/n, I also liked this boy who didn't like me back, but I didn't beat myself over it, we're only in 8th grade, there are plenty of other boys." I sigh. "I get that but," I pause feeling myself get slightly angry. "I know that I mean it just bothers me, the only reason he didn't like me is that I don't have a big butt or I'm too nice, like what the actual...frick," I whisper the last part. "That just proves to you that he likes hoes that belong in the streets, if he did like you and you two actually dated, he would eventually break your heart, that's the sad truth." She rubs my back. "Looks isn't the full thing everyone cares about, well, some snobby people but, you will find a boy who's gonna like you for you, I'm not going to say when, but it will happen." She smiles reassuringly.
