Talking to Strangers on Omegle

I never thought spending so much time on the Internet would impact my life greatly. Sure, I made occasional online friends, but who would have ever known that one those "occasional online friends" would become something more. Before I continue, let me start at the beginning, last summer.

I had been bored out of my mind so I decided to browse on Omegle, a website where you could talk to random strangers. That's where Blake comes in. I remembered he started the conversation with, "Where have you been all my life?”

Now me being the sarcastic little butt I am didn’t give him the response he wanted. Instead it went something like this: “I’ve been hiding from you all my life.”

Obviously, he wasn’t expecting that and his ego seemed to have been wounded. (Something I took pride in doing.) I was almost certain he would disconnect, seeing how most guys would after an incident like that; but what surprised me was that he didn't. Blake laughed it off and kept on flirting. He tried pick up line, after pick up line, but I still managed to ruin his punch line. We ended up talking for hours, six hours to be exact, and there was never an awkward silence. I learned a lot about him, and he about me. We ended up exchanging Kik usernames and that is how our friendship began.

Our first conversation on Kik was something special, I guess you could say. It started out pretty normal with the normal “hey” and whatnot. But then he asked me about my name and profile picture on my information. I guess I could see why he was curious. I mean my name on Kik wasn’t exactly my name..

For my name on Kik, I had Brianna the Booklion and Ariel the Little Mermaid was my profile picture. Blake, then, asked my age and when I told him that I was sixteen he was a bit shocked, Okay so “a bit shocked” is an understatement. Blake was like seriously shocked, and asked me if I was “shitting him.”

Which I replied to that I was in fact not “shitting him.” That’s when he thought it’d be “cute” to tease me about it. Blake pretty much peed himself laughing when I told him the reason why I put Brianna the Booklion and not Brianna the Bookworm. So he decided it’d be cute to change his name to Blake the Badass. He said and I quote, “Now we both have awesome names, Brianna the Booklion and Blake the Badass.”

Blake seemed to find my reason of having Ariel as my profile picture cute, though. How or why? I’m not entirely sure, but seconds later he changed his profile picture to one of Prince Eric. I thought that was one of the cheesiest things Blake ever did.

I asked him why he changed his profile picture to one of Prince Eric, when he had a perfectly good profile picture of himself playing lacrosse. (Not that I could see his face.) And he said that Ariel needed to have her Prince Eric, and that alas, he had finally arrived. I remembered thinking he was such a dork for saying that, but secretly I thought it was the cutest thing ever. Not that I’d ever tell him, though.

I remember asking what he looked like once and Blake had tried describing himself to me. He said he was so hot that ice cream melted when he approached it, hence why he was banned from stepping into an ice cream shop. He later on asked me what I looked like; I said that I was so ugly even mosquitoes didn’t want me.

Blake disagreed with me and said I was beautiful; I remember blushing reading those words. He was probably just saying it to be nice, seeing how he didn’t even know what I really looked like. Still, I appreciated his words. We would talk every day, all day, our conversations would end with one of us falling asleep on the other. The next morning we’d pick up our conversation as if we hadn’t slept.

That summer, I wasn’t always bored; I had something to look forward to. And as cheesy as it sounds, that something to look forward to was him. Blake always seemed to make me laugh until I was crying. He made me remember what it was like to be happy again.
