"Talia Louise Harris!" Oh no, I hear my bosses voice screech across the room.
"My office now! Please." Even when he's red in the face with anger he's still polite.I slowly make my way down to his office sliding past the big stacks of today's newspapers and the tip taping of fingers typing away happily, probably starting new story's for tomorrow's paper. As I briskly walk to my dreaded end I space out and begin to think why my boss was so angry at me, in a snap the puzzle pieces began to fit together ever since my uplifting, informative story last week on Rescue centres for animals and why it was important that everyone should at least adopt a rescue pet. I had been hit with a wave of writers block no story caught my eye these past few weeks, sure some story's were ok I guess but nothing that sparked nothing that lit up a fire in me to write till my fingers cramped, I had just lost my spark and I needed a jolt to bring me back maybe this is what my boss wants to talk to me about. I stop short standing stock still in front of my bosses office not realising that I had reached my destination quicker than expected, etched on the frosted glass reads Mr. Moore CEO of Starlight Newspaper. I knock tentatively at first a minute passes by with no sound coming from Mr. Moore's office, I knock a second time louder but still weary. Mr. Moore's shadow looms from behind the frosted glass, the door swings open swiftly.
"Talia come in Please." Mr. Moore stands his voice sounding much calmer than a few moments ago he extends his left arm into his office waving me inside. Mr. Moore is in his early 40s, dressed in a fairly expensive light grey suit. I can tell he hasn't had any sleep due to his inky black tie that sits crooked tucked inside his black vest, the dark circles around his hazle nut brown eyes shows me he hasn't slept well for the past few days, his curly dirty blonde hair is all scuffled out of place probably from him pulling his hair out because of me. In that moment I feel bad and worried for him, maybe I should buy him a gift basket filled with chamomile tea, I heard somewhere that it has calming effects.
I take a seat at his light oak desk. I've always liked this office. The walls are dark oak and the floor is a shiny light brown oak you would think he has a thing for oak but wait untill you see his typewriter collection.
"Talia it has come to my attention that you haven't wrote any stories for 2 weeks. Would you care to explain why?" He asks tilting his head to the right inquizitively.
"Sir, I apologise but I haven't seen anything worth writing about for these past few weeks. Unless you want me to do a 20 page essay on why my next door neighbour Bill spreads penut butter on his front door at 12am?" He looks disgusted by the last comment.
"Did you just say he spreads peanut butter on his door?" I nod quickly.
"Yes Sir, I asked him about it one time, he looked at me startled then ran down the hallway screaming about Rats needing food in this cold winter, the shocking part to me was that it was summer not winter." Mr. Moore looks at me like I've just told him I was in love with Chewbacca. Then proceeds to burst out into fits of laughter his giggles echo around the room, abruptly his laughter is replaced by one single, strong cough and Mr. Moore begins to explain that my ratings have gone down more than they have ever before. He then proceeded to give me a lecture saying enthusiastically that some stories have to be found and that i was wasting precious time searching the internet for the latest scoop. But that's one of the many reasons I love working here, Mr. Moore is so passinoate that it inspires me and my co workers to throw everything we have into our work and to be just as eager as him to start the day. Mr. Moore looks at me sadly and for a moment my heart drops into my stomach all the reasons why he would look at me that way whizzed through my mind. He opened his mouth and gave me an ultimatum of a lifetime."Talia I can help push you in the right direction, I have a story for you it's a hard one and you will have to fight for it, put all your inspiration and that smart brain of yours in to this story I know you can do it, but If you don't go for this and continue on like you have over these past weeks I'm sorry but I will have to let you go." Before he can continue I shout.
"No! I love this job please I'll take the story. I'll put in all the work even if I have to crawl in to a muddy ditch and fight of grizzly Bears. I promise I will work my skin down to the bone, I will fight of other jornalitsts with sticks and Twinkies. Please don't take my job I need it." I huff tears begin fill my eyes as I speak with desperation and determination, I will do anything to keep this job anything. That's when he told me the shocking news of what the story was or better yet who the story was about.Oh no, I'm going into a lions den dressed as Lady Ga Ga from back in 2010. Who would ever wear a dress made of raw beef, your just asking to be feasted upon by a pack of hungry lions, but that's Lady Ga Ga for you. I'm in full panic mode I can't do this story does Mr. Moore know the danger involved in this story! I could die for crying out loud. Maybe I'm overreacting it should be fine I did say that I would do anything to keep my job and if that means throwing myself into my untimely demise then so be it. Struck by a wave of strong willed determination I intently listen to my mission.
"Alright then. The story is about The Reaper, I'm sure you've heard of him." Heard of him! Every newspaper in this world is trying to get their scoop on him, no one ever has gotten him to say yes to an interview let alone get within 3 feet of him, he's terrifying! "He's a professional fighter, never been beaten, I don't believe anyone has ever had the chance to even touch him in the ring his too quick and too skilled he always walks away without a scratch on him, but his opponent on the other hand either walks away badly beaten or doesn't walk away at all. He's nutorius for his knockouts, not only that but he's Ambidextrous uses both of his hands in the ring. Looks like he packs a powerful punch. You will go to his next fight find him and go undercover as his PA to secretly interview him. Do everything in your power find out anything you can even if it's as boring as his favorite colour, if you do this we will be the first ever Newspaper to get the scoop on The Reaper. The story will be gold but there's a time limit Talia you must complete this story in two months and also do not reveal your identity as a journalist it would cause trouble and we would lose the story' two months is all the time I can give you I'm afraid. Good luck Talia and I hope the story comes along amazingly."
I'M WRITING A STORY ON WHO!!! UNDERCOVER! I'm in deep and I don't have a paddle to to pull me out.
I'm going to need back up and there is only one person I can think of.
