Three hours and many pivots later Lauren and Normani both sunk into the couch, which thanks to Camila's sound advice, was now sitting in their living room.
For most of the hours that had passed since Lauren met Camila she had thought of little else than the adorable brunette. She wondered what apartment was hers, she wondered what she was majoring in, she wondered what she was doing, she wondered if she would ever wonder about anything else.
To be sure, this was very strange behavior for Lauren and she was a little confused as to why this girl was taking up so much of her mental focus. Lauren had never been the type to really connect with people. Sure, she had friends. Normani and her had been best friends since grade two. She loved her brother and sister. Her parents, while sometimes aggravating, were very close to her heart. But never had she thought about either of them with as much, for lack of a better word, dedication.
Every time her mind strayed to something other than Camila she would somehow connect the two.
Should the bookcase be against this wall or that wall? Hmm, I wonder if Camila likes books. God, I hope she likes books. She definitely seemed like a reader. I wonder what her favorite book is. Maybe I could- OK! That is enough, Lauren, get it together.
Was pretty much how her thought patterns had been traveling. She really needed to get this girl out of her head before she lost all sanity.
"Maniiiii" Lauren whined, looking up at her friend with pleading eyes "Let's go to Pier tonight! I need to get reacquainted with the Captain and maybe also his good friend Jack"
Normani rolled her eyes and laughed "You know I am always down for a three way with Captain and Jack, let's do it!"
"Please, do not ever mention you and a three way again. I love you, but just... ew"
"Shut up" Normani replied still laughing "You know you'd want that three way to turn into a four way, who could resist these undeniable curves" she joked as she stood up from the couch.
Lauren rolled her eyes as she sulked into the couch.
"I'm going to get ready, leave in an hour?" Normani suggested.
"Perfect"
Both girls quickly showered off the sweat and grime from a long day of moving and got ready for the night.
Lauren decided to keep it casual for the first night back. She wore her black skinny jeans and a grey crop top. Light make up with a burst of deep red on her lips. Her piercing green eyes did not need any help standing out but she applied a little mascara anyways.
The whole time she was getting ready she tried, and failed, to keep her mind off a certain curvaceous brunette that seemed to have taken over her thoughts. She hoped that a little alcohol would shake her mind off the girl. After all, Lauren did not do feelings like this. She was cool. She was calm. She was collected. She did not pine. If she wanted someone, she went for them and she got them. But Camila made her feel nervous. She wasn't her usual suave self. She had butterflies. Fucking butterflies.
'I don't do butterflies' Lauren thought with as much conviction as she could muster.
What Lauren does is alcohol, lots of it. She likes how it makes her feel free. She doesn't have to think so much. She just does. And thinking is exactly what Lauren was trying not to do.
