Lauren and Lucy spent the next few hours in class. Lucy was hanging on to every word the professor said but Lauren kept dozing off. She hadn't had the best sleep the night before and was paying for it now. She had been too busy thinking about what it would be like to kiss Camila and what would have happened if Dinah hadn't interrupted their moment.
Somewhere during the lecture Lauren decided to give up on even trying to pay attention. It was only the first day anyway and she wasn't going to miss too much by putting her head down for a quick nap.
After class finished the two girls made their way to the quad to spend their two hour break in the sunshine. They both sat down on the grass and started to people watch all the students trudging to and from their first day of classes.
"So babe, tell me all about your summer! How many hearts did you break over the past four months?"
"Shut up, Luce. I'm not that bad!"
Lucy scoffed and rolled her eyes at Lauren's response. She better than anyone knew Lauren's non committal ways. She had been wing-woman to quite a few crazy nights and had witnessed first hand how Lauren could seduce anyone she was interested in.
"We both know that ain't the truth. Come onnnn, tell me! And tell me what's up with that sexy Camila chick?"
"There's nothing to tell. About either." Lauren replied a little too quickly, feeling her pulse start to pick up.
"Welllll then you wouldn't mind if I went for it, would you?"
Lauren felt her heart constrict at Lucy's question. She knew that she shouldn't mind. She had no claim over Camila and aside from that, Camila had a boyfriend so it really wasn't any of her business.
"Nope. But I will tell you that she has a boyfriend that she seems really into..."
"Please, you know that could never stop me and my undeniable charm" Lucy shot back while fanning her face dramatically.
"You are undeniable that's for sure. Undeniably annoying"
"Ouuuuch, babe, that hurts"
Silence fell over the two as they both retreated back into their thoughts. Lauren really didn't want Lucy going after Camila. If anyone was going to go after her she wanted it to be herself.
"All serious, Luce, don't go there with Camila okay?"
"I knew it. You like herrrrr! Get it, Jauregui" Lucy teased, although secretly happy to see her friend developing real feels for someone. She could tell just by the way Lauren looked at Camila that something was different with her.
"I do not like her. I mean, I like her as a friend. I just don't want you to do anything that would hurt her and her happiness with her boyfriend" Lauren replied, pleased with herself for coming up with what she thought was a good cover.
Lucy did not believe her but chose to let it go. She knew that Lauren would eventually open up to her when she was ready.
"Alright, whatever you say amiga. I gotta jet. Vero just texted me about some party favours she wants to get for the party this weekend. It's going to be intergalactic. You should invite your new girlfriend"
"She's not my girlfriend and also What the actual fuck you high case, how can a party be intergalactic?"
Lucy started to laugh rather loudly at this question "seriously?" She started walking away but looked back and shouted "we're gunna be so high up we'll be chillen in another galaxy, ya feel? INVITE YOUR NEW GIRLLLLLLFRIEND"
Lauren was so embarrassed that she pulled out a random textbook to hide behind for the rest of the break. Although she didn't spend much of it reading. She spent most of it thinking about what it would be like if Camila really was her girlfriend.
She felt herself heat up at the idea of lazy Sundays on the couch, late night adventures to get froyo, and weekend getaways together.
Maybe these feelings she was having weren't so bad after all. She decided that she would stop trying to fight this and just go with it. Who even gave a fuck about Matthew anyway? She was sure she could make Camila much happier than that grandpa was currently doing.
'Fuck it. I'm going to invite my new girlfr-. I'm going to invite Camila to that party'
