A dull, thumping pain in her temple woke her, and she groaned softly.
"Fucking hell..." Her vision clouded and blurry at first, she could barely make out the dingy room around her. As it cleared, she could make out the details. Water dripping slowly through the roof, leaving stains. A table stood in the corner, holding her jacket, shoes, pistol, flask, phone, and her necklace, which made her feel unnaturally naked. She shivered at the chill of the air around her, and attempted to pull her hands up to rub her arms, only to find them bound uncomfortably behind her. Her ankles were also tied, held at the legs of the wooden chair she was sitting in. Thankful that she still had socks on, she curled her toes, trying to reclaim some warmth. The sound of a heavy door opening behind her and footsteps alerted her. Craning her neck to see who the attackers were, she couldn't help but shout at the two men. The guys from the motel.
"You fucking bastards!" It was meant to be loud, but Alexia found her mouth dry and her voice little more than a rasp. The tall man, the one who had knocked her out, looked slightly sympathetic and brought forward a canteen. More gently than expected, he lifted her head with one of his large hands, while the other tipped the contents into her waiting mouth. Silently cursing herself for being so weak, she made contact with his brown puppy dog eyes and gave a grateful look. The shorter of the two men stepped forward while the tall one moved back toward the table. He did not look as sympathetic nor soft as the other, and a chill coursed through her spine.
"Names Dean Winchester, this is my brother Sam-" he began before he was interrupted.
"Yeah, I met the Sasquatch earlier. He kind've kidnapped me." Alexia growled, glaring up at him from the awkward trap.
"Anyway, we're gonna ask you some questions, and I expect answers." He finished, glaring right back at her. The same fire that was in her own hazel eyes burned in his green orbs, but this did not make her think that they were similar.
"I'll say to you what I said to your brother back at the library," the young woman said, leaning as close as possible to Dean. "I'm not telling either of you jack shit, and I'm not afraid of you." She spat at his feet, a smug look on her face. The brothers exchanged looks, before Dean broke the silence.
"Alright then, I'll see you tomorrow." He spoke with a fake grin on his face, before he left the room, leaving Sam behind.
"You know... The sooner you talk, the sooner you get back to Tyler." He reasoned, much to the shock of Alexia.
"How the hell do you know about Tyler?" She growled, jerking her wrists against the rope in a failed attempt to break it.
"He's the only guy you've ever called on your phone, and he left a few messages. We didn't look at them, but is bet that he's pretty worried. I mean, you've been here for a day and a half already." There was a devilish glint in his eye that Lex would've never thought to come from this man.
"So, what is he? Husband? Boyfriend? Or just a hunting partner for when you get lonely?" Sam joked, getting a growl from the tied up woman. It was clear now that he was trying to mess with her head.
"He's my brother, you disgusting fuck!" She glowered at him, straining even more against the restraints. Ignoring her sharp words, Sam only picked up Alexia's phone and called out to his brother.
"Hey, Dean! Get back in here!" The man shouted, waiting only a few moments before the door opened and closed yet again. Dean walked over to the table, standing next to his brother. He took the phone, clearly knowing what Sam meant to do, and played back the first message that Tyler had left.
"Lex, where are you?" Her brothers voice rang through the speakers of the phone. "I went to the library, and you weren't there. I'm gonna be at the motel, call me back." Alexia was silent, looking at the ground as Dean clicked the next message.
"Okay, this isn't funny anymore, Lex. Get your ass back here... I'm worried."
In the next message, her brothers voice was different, silent and almost crying.
"Alexia..." He breathed, using her full name. He never used her full name. "Alexia please, if your still alive, call me at least. I... If you're listening to this, I love you. Please be okay." Lex bit down on her bottom lip, her shaky breathes the only thing breaking the silence. She could kind've hear Sam explaining to Dean that Tyler was her brother, but she wasn't listening, not really.
"So," Deans voice echoes across the room. "Alexia and Tyler who?" He asked, receiving a glare before an actual answer.
"Lake." Her voice was quiet, shaky. Close to tears.
"Tyler and Alexia Lake. Sam, search them up." While Sam pulled a laptop that was on the table toward him, Dean leaned closer to her.
"The necklace, where did you get it and what does it mean?" Taking a deep breath before opening her mouth to speak.
"My mother gave Tyler and I matching necklaces when we were little. Mines a silver crescent moon, his is a golden sun. It's just a necklace," well, that part was a lie. The pendants on the necklace were very special, but she would never tell Dean that. "But I've had it for so long that it feels like I'm naked when I'm without it." Alexia explained, her voice steadying the more she spoke. Just before Dean was about to ask another question, Sam spoke.
"Tyler Joseph Lake, born October 4th, 1988. Alexia Maria Lake, born Febuary 23rd, 1992. Both in the town of Hope, B.C. Canada. Parents were Abigail Lake, who is dead, and Joel Finch, status unknown. They were both in public school, and in Tyler's case, community college, until 2007, when they were pulled out for a so called 'family emergency,' and sold the house they were living in. That's as far as the records go." He finished with a slight shrug. Lex cursed under her breath, how did he find all those records on her and her family?
"Wait, you're only 22 and you're hunting demons?" Dean pointed out, sounding a little shocked at the thought.
"So? Like you'd care if I got hurt." Giving an eye roll, she adjusted her position in the chair, her fingers starting to go numb. She partly heard him tell Sam to search up matching silver moon and golden sun necklaces, obviously trying to find out if she was lying or not.
He typed on the laptop for a few seconds more, then frowned.
"Nope, nothing on golden sun and silver moon necklaces other than jewelry catalogs." Alexia caught herself before she let a sigh of relief out, and instead turned it into a groan.
"Great, then can I have mine back?" With a frustrated and sarcastic tone to her voice, she shifted her weight back and forth in the chair while the brothers exchanged glances. Sam shrugged as if to say "Why not?" And Dean walked to the table, snatching the necklace and carrying it back over to her, he knelt in front of the wooden chair, and draped the long, black string around her neck. His hands lingered a little too long on her neck and collarbones as he adjusted the charm to it lay against her bare skin, and his breath smelled of booze, but other than that he was warming up to be an okay guy, if you put the whole kidnapping and interrogating behind. He stood, and clapped his hand on his brothers back. They both began toward the door behind the young woman.
"W-wait! You're not going to let me go?!" She called, twisting her head to see the boys better.
"Nope." Dean put on that cheesy, fake grin again.
"Well, not yet." Sam added, before opening the door and exiting with Dean.
"Fucking bastards!" The trapped girl called after them, not even sure that they could still hear her.
"Lying scum! Assholes!" The insults echoed off the walls of the room, but it didn't stop her from screaming them until the charm resting against her skin began to heat up. The shouting stopped, Alexia could feel Tyler. The warmth of his skin, even his heartbeat, slow and steady next to her own, rapid and irregular. She knew that he would feel her chilled flesh and quick pulse, so he knew that's he was alive. Aware of how scared her pulse must feel, she took several deep breathes, slowing her heartbeat and letting him know that for now, she was okay.
