The three hour drive went by quick for Alexia, who had opted to get the extra sleep while her brother drove. She awoke to Tyler shaking her arm, and was disappointed to find that they were not quite there.
"You need to be awake for a while, I can't bring my drowsy sister in to a demon hunt." He told her when she gave him her dirtiest of looks.
Lex was growing irritably restless by the time they finally followed the Winchesters car into the parking lot of a building that looked like it was ready to fall apart. Tyler hopped out if the car, making way for the two brothers and leaving Alexia to gather their supplies. She could vaguely hear Dean and Sam arguing as they excited their car, stopping abruptly when they saw Tyler. Grabbing everything she needed from the back of the van, she walked over to where the rest of the team stood.
"Cas isn't really the best hunter." Dean explained to Ty, who had obviously asked where the angel was. Lex couldn't help but roll her eyes, her brother always got attached fast.
"Alright, what was the arguing about? We can't afford to mess this up." The girl scolded, much to the surprise of the brothers.
"It was nothing, we're fine." Said Sam, a little too quickly.
"Well," Alexia began, "we can't have you two fighting on the job. We'll split up."
"So, I go with Dean, you go with Sam?" Ty suggested, earning a nervous lip-bite from his sister as she glanced at Sam.
"Sorry Sam, but I'd rather not be alone with the guy who knocked me out and kidnapped me. I'll go with Dean."
The pair entered the rundown building with caution, guns loaded with salt rounds and the safety off. It was the oddest hunt that Lex had ever been in. A hunt to capture a demon, but not kill it. Ty and Sam were on the other side of the building, to cover more ground in less time.
"So... Tyler seems pretty interested in Cas. Is he.. You know..."
"Gay? Very. He's had a total of six boyfriends, seven if Cas gives in." Alexia finished for Dean. People were always uncomfortable on the topic of her brother being homosexual, but she could never figure out why. He was still her brother, and still a great hunter, and person.
She shook her head slightly, reaching for the handle of a door. It opened easily, and inside was empty except for some moldy cardboard boxes.
"But you're not. Are you?" Dean asked, sounding cautious. Lex couldn't help but give a little laugh.
"Nah, and I've had a total of one boyfriend. What about you or Sam?" She asked in a partially sarcastic way.
"What? No, we don't swing that way." It was spoken in that same hasty tone that Sam had used earlier. He opened the next door, finding another empty room.
"And behind door number three..." Dean joked before kicking in the stubborn door. Alexia saw a movement in the corner of her eye, she spun quickly and squeezed the trigger of her pistol.
"A rat with a bullet in it." Her companion finished, and she felt a rush of embarrassment wash over her. Sure enough, the still body of a rat lay in the corner if the room.
"I am... So sorry." Lex muttered, her face flushed pink before she pulled out her phone quickly. Just as she had thought, a new text from her brother popped up.
>What the hell was that? Are you okay??
<rat scared the shit out of me. Nobody's hurt.
>ok. Keep looking then. Stay safe.
<you too
The conversation was over as quickly as it started, Alexia dropping her phone back into her pocket.
"We good?" Dean asked, looking slightly annoyed.
"Can we just forget it? I mean, we've all made stupid mistakes like that. I'd bet my best bra that you've made several." The young woman continued the conversation, hoping to lighten the mood.
"I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours." The man smirked, raising his eyebrows at her while they moved down the hallway.
"Okay, well, other than shooting a rat, we were down in Birmingham, on a supposed werewolf hunt. I was only nineteen, a tiny little 100 pound thing. Anyway, we're in this creepy alleyway, and the guy jumps out, fangs and all. So I shoot it with the silver bullet, he stops, and doesn't die. Turns out he was a vamp. Ty jumps in, tosses me a machete, which I nearly cut my own hand off with before I land a good swing on the creeps head." Lex finished her story with a small smile, the pair having passed two more empty rooms.
"You're turn." She reminded him after several moments of silence.
"First thing that comes to mind, I was infected with some weird disease. It made me go practically crazy, hell, I couldn't even carry a gun because I was afraid it would go off." He chuckled, drawing a laugh from Alexia as well.
"God damn, that makes you sound like a nine year old kid." The girl tried to force the smile of her face while she checked another room around the corner, also empty. She sighed heavily, letting her pistol drop from in front of her to her side.
"Sam said there would be a demon here, but I'm starting to doubt that."
"Hey," said Dean, and Alexia turned to him. "We're gonna find that demon, just don't shoot it with a silver bullet." Lex and Dean both laughed, grinning at each other.
That was, until a scream pierced the air. Alexia froze, tensing her muscles. Her voice was nothing more than a whisper.
"Tyler."
