Alyssa's POV

"Ice cappuccino for Mark?"

A bad-tempered businessman hurriedly walked up to the counter, snatched his coffee cup and walked away without another word. Not even a thank you. I check the clock in back of me; 8:45 in the morning. The coffee shop should be getting less busy from now on with all the angry businessmen at work. I grab a wet cloth and start cleaning the coffee-stained countertops. My boss, Madeleine, joins me. "Hi Alyssa" she says. "Hey Maddie" I say back. "So what have you been up to lately? I doubt you went on vacation for three months." she asks me. I continued cleaning the countertops, attempting to avoid her question. Although I had decided not to tell anyone other than my family about my role in the tv show, Madeleine was someone I could trust entirely, having known her for years now.

"Well..." my voice trailed off as I contemplated how to tell her this. "I kind of landed a role in a tv show. And, well, I was in Toronto to film it." I finally look up to see her, her mouth agape, her eyes wide with shock. Her state of shock was replaced with a look of complete happiness. She engulfed me in a heartwarming hug.

"So, tell me all about it!" she says cheerily.

"Actually, I can't say much about it, but the cast is really great. Well, most of them are..." I mumbled the last part to myself.

"What do you mean most of them are?"

"It's nothing major, it's just one my co-stars, Timothée Chalamet, that I don't get along with."

"How come?"

"I don't know... We just never really clicked." I said, avoiding eye contact with Madeleine. In my defense, it wasn't a complete lie.

"Okay. You know you can talk to me if ever you need to. I'll be there for you" she says, a slight smile plastered on her face. I knew she had seen right through my half-lie. We continued cleaning up when the the bell rang, meaning someone had just entered the coffee shop. I turn around and am shocked to see Keara standing in the doorway. When she sees me, she grins widely. My co-star walks over to the counter. "What can I get for you?" I ask, trying not to break into laughter. "Suprise me" she says. We both keep a straight face before our laughter takes over. I go over to make her favourite coffee, then hand it to her. She reaches into her pocket to find some cash when Madeleine's voice interrupts her action. "Don't worry, it's on the house" she says. "Oh no, please, I insists" Keara says as she pulls out a five dollar bill from her pocket. But my Madeleine refuses to accept the money, and she gives in. "I'm guessing you're one of Alyssa's co-stars?" She reaches her hand over the counter and shakes Keara's hand. "Maddie, this is Keara. Keara, this is Madeleine, my boss" I say.

"You two girls go sit down and talk, I'll take over for now." Madeleine says.

"Are you sure?" I ask

"Of course, it's time for your break anyways."

Keara and I walk over to an empty table close to the windows. "So, anything new with you?" I ask her. "Not much, really." She says. "Oh, come on! Don't lie to me. I say your thirst comments on that guy's instagram" I see a slight blush creep onto her cheeks as she looks down to the table. "So, who is he? Did you slide into his DM's yet?"

"Maybe..." she says. I kept on looking at her, urging her to continue. "His name's Michael, he's from California, and we may have gone a date or two." I silently squealed as she continued feeding me details about Michael. "What about you?" she asks me. "Honestly, nothing. Just good ol' me serving coffee to angry customers." We caught up for another hour before I had to return to work. "I'll see you soon!" I say. "We should meet up again before ComicCon!" She said excitedly. We both said our goodbyes to each other as she walked out the door, and down the street. I rejoined Maddie behind the counter. "So when's this ComicCon?" she asks me.

"In a month" I respond.

"Are you excited?"

"Yeah, yeah I am"

"Maybe it'll be your chance to fix things with Timothée" Maddie says nonchalantly. I consider her statement.

"Maybe"
