Alyssa's POV
It was a rainy day in New York City. I was applying for a few jobs openings in local cafés and restaurants, needing the money to pay for my rent. I had very few friends in the city, having moved here from Montreal, leaving my friends and family behind me. It was quite hard to adapt to such a big city and to be surrounded by so many people. I had used all my university money that I'd been saving ever since I was young to move to NYC, with the dream of pursuing acting. It's been months, and a dozen auditions have flown by with no response. Every day, those dreams fade more and more.
Several hours later, after filling out all my job applications, I received a call from my agency. "Probably bad news again. Like always." I whisper to myself. I let out a big sigh before answering.
"Hey"
"Hi Alyssa, I have some-" I cut her off before she could finish her sentence, expecting the worst.
"Let me guess. Bad news. You know, I've been said no to so many times I don't even remember what I auditioned for"
"Well actually... you got the part!
"No way!"
"Remember that sci-fi tv show that you auditioned for months ago? Well you get to play one of the lead characters!"
"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" I practically scream and jump around my room, not caring if my neighbours complained about the noise or not. I got the part. I was going to be an actress, staring as a lead role in a tv show! I was so excited that I forgot that I was still on the phone with my manager.
"You start filming in two weeks in Toronto, where you will meet the entire cast. Have fun!"
"Thank you! I'll see you soon!" and with that, I end the call.
A/N: What do you guys think? I know it's kind of a slow start but i'll get to the good stuff soon enough.
