Too Late ➳ Bughead

chapter seven

We stood there, on my front porch. I didn't want him to leave. I wanted to stand there with him forever. I've taken Jug for granted. Who knows what would have happened it Fred wasn't home. I think I knew deep down I liked Jughead, but I didn't want to move on so fast after Archie. Today made me realize how fast anything could happen and Jughead could be taken away from me, so I'm done caring what other people think. I kissed his cheek where he got cut from Archie's ring. We were barely 2 inches away from each other now. I could tell he wanted to kiss me. He wasn't going to, so I cupped his face and pulled him towards me. Our lips touched, and he was tense for a moment, but then he kissed back. It was like time stopped. Like there was nobody in the world but us right then. 

"I'll see you tomorrow Betty."

"Bye Jug." 

I walked inside and my mom looked at me and raised her eyebrows.

"What was you were telling me the other day? Something along the line of 'we're just friends.'" 

I smiled and rolled my eyes, blushing.

...

I woke up around seven, and checked my phone. Two texts:

v <333 : what's new

jug <3 : morning, beautiful <3

I smiled at the last text, and replied to both.

betty <3 : morning <3 

b <333 : i have so much to update you on

v <333 : spill

b <333 : its too much to text, i'll tell you at school

I set my phone on my dresser and went to the bathroom. I washed my face, then brushed my hair and made my way to my vanity. My hair was in a ponytail, as usual, and I applied a little mascara and lip gloss, then went to my closet. I put on a pink sweater and jeans. 

"Betty! Jughead's here."My mom calls from downstairs.

I grab my bags and head downstairs, taking an apple from the kitchen before opening the door.

"I figured I could walk you to school." He smiled.

"That would be great." I smile back.

I grab his arm and we set out to school. 

 "So, I was wondering if you wanted to do a couples costume for Veronica's Halloween party?" He asked.

"That would be great, Juggie." I reply.

"Juggie?" He questions.

"Is it okay if I call you that?" I get nervous.

"I love it." He leans in and kisses me.

...

We arrive at school and sit in the student lounge. Veronica walks in and sits across from me. 

"So, what do you have to update me on?" Veronica asks, excitedly. 

"Archie told me to meet him at Pop's yesterday.." I start.

"Oh no." 

"He started begging to get back with me and when I said no, he got physical." I show her the bruises.
