They met a long time ago, long before the buildings stood taller than trees, longer than when neon lights were all you could see as you walked down the road. At first they were hot kisses, burning trails of desire wrapped up like one. The human was shunned and very nearly stoned because who would want to lay with a man that walked amongst the damned? But the human didn't care, not even the slightest, because he cherished the moments they had together, where they would whisper secrets that they would get condemned for if said to the world, and where they could rely on each other and never have to care for anything else.

So, it was just them.

The Devil and his lover.

And as the Devil held his love's hand as his life faded before his eyes, as the only human who accepted him was losing his life because of those who just didn't understand, he wiped the man's tears and whispered, "How long will I love you? As long as the stars are in the sky, my dear, and longer if I can."

His lover leaned into his touch, his once bright green eyes dimming, "I'll always love you, my lord. My Devil..."

"Yes..." It was then, as the human's hand went limp in his, for the first time, the Devil shed a tear, "Always..."
