"Detective!" Lucifer grinned as he approached his partner's desk, hands in his pant pockets, "What case do we have today?"
"No case right now," Chloe sighed as she put some documents in a folder. "Just paperwork."
"Oh, sounds tedious," The man sat at the chair next to her and crossed his legs. "I fear this will certainly take a while."
"Yes and it would go faster if you actually helped instead of just sit-" Chloe cut herself off when she saw Ella walking up to them, the forensic scientist looking happy as she practically vibrated with glee, "Hey, Ella, what's up?"
"Hey, guys! So, get this," Her eyes brightened as she smiled widely. "We're getting another transfer today!"
"Another one? Straight after the lieutenant?" Chloe raised her eyebrows, "Where's he transferring from?"
Ella paused for a moment to think, "Michigan. I only remember because it reminded me of you, Lucifer," She gestured to him.
"Oh?" The Devil grinned with interest, "And why is that?"
"He came from Hell, Michigan."
Lucifer's smile dropped for a moment, his eyes looking troubled. It was hidden quickly though as he placed his hands in his pockets and scoffed, "We both are hardly similar, I assure you, Ms. Lopez."
"Still man," The forensic scientist laughed. "It's pretty weird."
"When does he arrive?" Chloe wondered, ignoring her friend's weird behavior for now.
"He should be here any minute," Ella shrugged. "I'm not really sure."
There was a bit of commotion at the entrance of the precinct as Pierce walked in with another man, probably the transfer. The lieutenant held himself stiff next to him, though the man didn't exactly look like much. He was good looking and close to Lucifer's height. His brown eyes took everything in, from the Halloween decorations Ella had started putting up even though it was September to the messy desks that nearly all the detectives seemed to have, and he kept his hands in his coat pockets as he walked.
"Decker," Marcus stopped in front of the woman and gestured to the man next to him. "This is Detective Avier. He transferred here from Michigan. I want you to show him the ropes."
Chloe blinked in surprise but nodded, "Yes, sir."
"Good."
The new detective looked at all of them for a moment before smiled, holding out a hand to Chloe, "Hi, my name's Lukas."
"Chloe," She shook the offered hand. "And Dan Espinoza, Ella Lopez, and my work partner Lucifer Morningstar."
Lukas didn't react to the Devil's name but he did react when Ella hugged him, "Oh!" His back was stiff but he visibly relaxed, hugging her back awkwardly, "Yes, it's good to meet you, too, Ms. Lopez."
Ella pulled back and smiled, nudging Lucifer's arm when she heard the name, whispering to the tall club owner, "See? He's like you."
Lucifer scoffed but he didn't really seem focused on the conversation as he said, "Please, we are nothing alike."
--
"Hey, Lukas!"
Lukas looked up to see Ella making her way over to him. He smiled kindly, resting his hands on the box that contained his personal items for his desk, "Hello, Ms. Lopez. Is there something you need?"
"Oh, no," She grinned. "I just wanted to keep you company- but I can go if you want me to."
"It's okay, I don't mind some company," He replied before going back to his box. The black-haired man pulled out a small cactus with a tiny flower and attached to the pot was a note that said 'Always smile, angel! -Thomas'.
