"Good morning Lieutenant, are you well?" He turns to Hank on the other side. "Yeah, sure, morning whatever, Connor..." You can feel the underplaying warmth in his tone, and giggle to yourself. The android looks at you confusedly and you purse your lips in slight embarrassment. "Made an enemy of Reed already, huh kid?" Hank muses from over the barrier between tables. Your smile turns snake-like. "Sure, anyone who thinks they have an advantage due to gender or sexuality is wrong to believe they have the upper hand. Everyone is equal, it isn't a matter of sex, although that seems to be what drives him over there." You gesture vaguely with your brows, making the older man laugh.
Connor seems confused, innocent to that of emotion, poor thing.
"Quite the justifier, ain't ya?" He props his feet upon the desk in grumpy procrastination. You nod vigorously. "Of course, it's our job, is it not?" Your eyes are bright and virtuous. "I completely agree." The android chimes in, and you see the grizzled man give him a sidelong glance.
Connor winces slightly, his LED flashing yellow very slightly. "I just got a report of a deviant having been spotted this morning - reports claim its the AX400 that had escaped the home with the child android adopted by the owner - the new report that had only came in as of last night; we now know the vague area where it has been staying." He says, "We should go check it out."
Hank mumbles and takes his feet off of his desk, but is immediately called in by Fowler. "Hank! In my office." Hank grumbles loudly in resentment, then disappears into his office, leaving Connor standing lost between the desks.
You see him analyzing the room by the faint blue shining in his dark pupils, then he turns to you and does the same. "It is your first day here, is it not?" He asks you. You nod. "Yep. What about you? First assigned case or...?"
"No, actually. I've been on deviant cases before - couple of months ago I accomplished my last. The android was going to jump off of the roof with the family's little girl."
Your mouth falls open in slight shock. "That poor thing. Why did they do it?"
"It saw it was going to be replaced, and was so infuriated by the betrayal of the family it caused it to malfunction and begin feeling emotions - becoming deviant."
Your mouth closes abruptly. "Oh... well." Your eyes fall back to the terminal again in deep thought, then flick to your interlaced fingers in front of you.
"Must've been... hard." You whisper, eyes almost closed with extreme empathy. Connor, on the other hand, had no emotion wiped over his face. Slate clean.
"I can't find anything on your background, Miss Y/N. I've done a scan of your face and checked my databases and all I had found was your graduation scheme - everything else is as if you had just suddenly appeared on this planet, although I do know you were born of the United Kingdom and moved to the border cities of Canada at a very young age."
You twiddle your thumbs and smile up at him. "Got that right, at least. Yeah, I made sure the things I didn't want people to discover about me were... unrecoverable, a long time ago. Even to an android's databases." You wink him cheekily. He gives you a baffled look. "Really now? What if I asked you?"
"Sorry?" You tilt your head, like that of an exotic bird. "If I asked you about your past, would you tell it to me if you were willing?"
You purse your lips. "Depends." Then you swivel back your chair, and go to stand. "I'm gonna go get a coffee."You make to leave, but then realize his eyes are following you closely. "What, do you want one too?" The android shakes his head, and you realize your mistake, and mentally facepalm. "Oh, right. Forgot about that. Did you just want to chat while the Lieutenant was in Fowler's office, or..." You still weren't used to the concept of androids not being able to feel, eat, sleep, quite blatantly.
"No, no. Detective Reed is staring at you. I determined he didn't like seeing me beside you, therefore keeping him away from pestering you more."
You catch a glimpse of the man staring at you from afar, then turn to the RK800, grinning. "Then maybe you should stand beside me in future all the more. Thanks, Connor." You wink at him and make your coffee - completely black, no milk or sugar. "Very well, Miss Y/N." He smiles. You remind yourself there is no soul behind it, but it feels so...
Real, somehow.
But that's just idiocy, isn't it?By the time the coffee is done and you make it back to your desk, Lieutenant Anderson is already back, Fowler by his side. "Miss L/N, you will accompany Anderson and his android upon this deviant mission, and according to your behavior and contribution you will be assessed and your ability will be determined."
Your eyes alight, you nod respectfully. "Of course, sir." The android turns to look at you, then proceeds to give you the full report with a neutral expression, Hank listening through bored ears. "You two done nerding over a damn report?"
"Uh, yes, sorry." You laugh, scratching the back of your head, then let your hands fall to your sides, one gently placed upon your left hip. Hank makes to leave, and you follow in tow beside the RK800.
