INTRODUCTION
Darcy fiddled with the rusty old gate, the only entry to Blake-Side High School. It rattled away aimlessly only frustrating poor Darcy more. She tried once again to push the hatch down but as usual did nothing. All Darcy wanted was to get to school on time but the way the gate was behaving it was as if she wanted murderous revenge.
A large crowd of students had gathered to watch the miserable girl attempt to open the gate. Already the boys had started to gamble on how long it would take her.
"I bet three Picnics it will take her 36 minutes," said one of the boys.
"More like 36 days! This is Darcy your talking about," muttered another throwing in a Wonker bar.
Usually after numerous attempts Darcy would phone one of her two best friends to help her out but neither Candy or Margo were at school yet.
The bell rung alarming everyone that Period 1 had just begun. But while the others had made their way, one frustrated girl remained locked outside the gate.
With a stroke of luck the gate swung open melting all the stress and pressure away. Darcy cheered loudly to herself shimmying her way through the gate before closing it.
Opening a gate to a normal person was just like breathing; unnoticed and easy. But to Darcy it was like wining a gold medal at the Olympics!
The new gate tamer hurried off to the bathroom realising her sudden excitement had caused an urgent 'call of duty'.
Darcy made her way into the cubicle locking the door attending to her business. It took seven seconds before she realised someone else was in the cubicle beside her. She bent her head low to see a pair of black converses with 1D written on the side in aqua pen.
It was Gemma.
Gemma Lanes was the snakiest girl in Grade 9! She was not top of the popularity tree but still pretty close. Everyone knew her name due to how many guys she had dated (32 this term). Right now she was single and snappy. It was as if having a boyfriend killed her 'bitch cells' and released new and improved 'semi-bitch cells'. However Darcy only found interest in her because she wasn't pretty and yet guys would date her. Gemma was tall, chubby and orange (with the help of foundation). Her hair was short and a dark blonde colour which totally clashed with her monkey eyebrows.
Darcy quickly finished up and crept out of the stall hurrying to the sink and washed her hands. Gemma had once been a personal family friend until 'the incident'. It had been two years ago at the beach a windy Tuesday. Even though Darcy had a Dory memory, nothing could ever make her forget that day.
Before marching out of the toilets, she caught her eyes wondering to her reflection. Darcy was average height with a lanky petite body and pale skin sprinkled lightly with freckles. Her hair was long straight and faded black with a Rebel Wilson fringe from the movie Pitch Perfect. That fringe was her pride and joy. If anyone happened to mess with it she would go berserk! Even though Darcy was very pretty none of her features quite compared to her eyes. They were lime green with specks of emerald within. She always received compliments for them.
Darcy suddenly caught a flyaway strand of hair unbalancing her fringe. Glaring she licked her thumb and pushed it down.
Busy fixing the fringe, Darcy didn't notice Gemma standing directly behind her.

Candy made her way to the corridor confused on Darcy's whereabouts. They both had Maths together but they were not exactly together.
