*DARCY*

The thin line between me and my cat Peaches, a fat thing with fur and a tail, was growing larger as I slipped into my bedroom. Candy hadn't arrived yet so I was immensely bored. The cat stared from the lounge room directly before my sleeping chamber.

Dad sat on the couch a packet of chips in his lap. He grinned as one of the singer's voice dropped to a low note.

"Suck on that Red Foo!" My dad cheered loudly as the TV switched to the next channel. X Factor obviously wasn't entertaining him as much since his favourite singer went home last week.

My twin brother Ashton and I lived with our dad, Rick. We visited our mum, Trina every second weekend which was good, I suppose. It's not that I didn't like my mum, it's just I didn't like her husband, AJ. He was this big man who was all up himself and thought I was stupid and belittled me every chance he got. AJ was awful to me behind closed doors, however out in the open, I was his little princess. Mum doesn't know what's going on, neither does anyone else except Candy and Margo. They pester me to give in and tell her or my dad or my brother! But it's just not gonna happen. It would kill her to know that during the wedding I never said anything and it would look bad on her behalf. AJ treated Ashton really nicely, like his own son. I don't understand what was wrong with me. Is there something in my teeth or what? -because I happen to find that a massive turn off.

Luckily I still have my dad, who is single (YEA) and my brother (NAH) to live with instead of a mum and a step-dad. Ashton and I were very similar looking but definitely not identical. We both have black hair and lime green eyes with pale skin, but that's it. Ashton is an inch taller than me and is slightly more developed in the puberty department (his acne is revolting). Our personalities are like black and white; very very very very different.

He was one of the smartest and most popular kids in school. Ashton has a new girlfriend every week where as I have never even had a conversation with a guy.

"Darcy! Peaches is growling again!" Dad shouted shuffling away from the ferocious cat.

I groaned annoyed with Peaches. Couldn't she hiss when I was less busy?

"Peaches, come here girl. Come on! Lets go outside!" I put in my cheesiest voice then crouched on the ground patting my knees like a dog. She didn't budge.

"Don't be an idiot," snarled Ashton from behind. He picked the fur ball up and lifted her out the window. Dad clapped proud that someone was brave enough to touch it.

"That's my boy!"

"Pfffttt...I could have done that," I boosted. Both of them turned and stared at me dead serious. Suddenly there was a knock at the door.

"CANDY!" I leapt through the air and swung my arms like a beautiful and graceful thug. The door swung open and I crept into my friends arms with glee. Candy's arms felt slightly more muscular then I remembered, and shorter too. Had she shrunk over night?

"Step away from the human!" I screamed to find I was hugging Ashton's best friend Brian. He grinned up at me then winked.

"If you wanted to feel my abs you could have just asked."

"Eww! Who would want to touch your legs?"

He frowned. "What exactly do you think abs are?"

"The back of your legs stupid! Everyone knows that!" I grinned proudly at Ashton who face palmed himself.

"Darcy, if you don't mind, could you just read a book? A sign? A poster? A letter perhaps?"

I rolled my eyes at him. He was so dramatic. "I read more then you Ash. We both know it."
