*CANDY* (POV)
Derek stared nervously up towards the door muttering a few things under his breath. His dark skin and eyes shimmered when the sunlight sprinkled through the window every so often.
I sighed as the principle asked Derek once more if he had ever hurt me in any way, shape or form.
"No Miss, I swear. I don't know where Candy is getting these idea's from. Maybe it's the video games and crazy books she's always reading," he mumbled looking directly at me with a innocent expression on his face.
It was hard not to be rational in a time like this so I took a deep breath and listened attentively as Miss Kathe, our young and very pretty principle, accused me of being the problem.
"Candy, I don't want to hear anymore of this nonsense," she said. "This is the fourth time this year and school started what? Four weeks ago?" She sighed. "If anything, I believe you are the one causing trouble."
My mouth dropped open. I was the one causing trouble? If I wasn't so civilised I would kick Miss Kathe to the ground and strangle her. Of course I would never admit this to anyone except Darcy and Margo.
A sudden thought of JK ROWLING, my all time favourite author, came to mind. I wondered if she was ever faced with someone like Derek and if she had how would she retaliate to him? Would she use a spell? Curse? Hex?
I flicked my hair back whipping Derek in the face. I gasped in surprise watching him wince. Miss Kathe was too busy rambling to notice.
A knock at the door interrupted the odd scene. We turned as one towards the office lady who smiled cautiously.
"Sorry to interrupt but Candy, your brother is here."
My heart literally stopped for a second. Luke, my older brother, was my favourite person in the world. He looked after me while my parents worked and did everything in his power to make me feel like I was normal which nobody succeeded at doing. Nobody had heard of any of the video games I played or books I read of half the stuff I talked about. They found me odd because I was always calm and at peace with myself.
"Luke!" I cried jumping out of my chair and running to a stick like figure leaning against the doorway. My arms wrapped themselves tightly around his torso overlapping. Luke was like a pole. He wasn't sick or unhealthy just naturally like this. I caught him often eating McDonalds but never once did he put on an ounce of weight after devouring that cheese burger or McFlurry.
Luke was dressed in a white button up shirt and light denim skinny jeans. On his feet were a pair of expensive converses I bought him for his 20th birthday a couple of weeks ago. He wore a pair of graffiti glasses and clutched tightly in his hand a mocha-late and his wicked new Galaxy 5 phone in the other.
He smiled at me through his monthly dyed black hair. "Hey Candy. I've been looking everywhere for you. Why didn't you call to let me know you where going to be up here?"
I shrugged. Before I could answer Miss Kathe coughed hinting that she would like some attention.
"Excuse me but Candy is having a bit of a hard time dealing with one of her classmates. It will only take a sec-"
"Well sorry," breathed Luke. "But we have to go so, Cheerio!" My brother sipped on his warm drink then nodded out the window to his new sports car.
We walked down in silence until we got to his car. He unlocked it then handed me the Galaxy 5 phone. Luke basically raised me.
My mum Kylie, was a hair dresser who flew to New York often doing professional hair for models and celebrities. My dad, Wayne Chu, was a stunt man in movies and a black belt. Right now he was in Tokyo filming the new Karate Kid movie which was set to be a big blockbuster. I loved my parents and everything but it was sad to not have them to myself helping me grow up. That was why I treasured every moment they did show their face.
I can't complain though, Luke is awesome! He is going to be such a great dad.
I waltzed into my house smelling the freshly cut lawn. Not to brag or anything but I was rich. My parents earned a lot of money so therefore we owned the best of everything. No one knew about my perfect life and I didn't plan on telling anyone. Of course Darcy and Margo knew but that was about it. I didn't want more attention at school especially from Derek. He would be so angry if he knew I was rich.
I kicked back my feet and lied across my bed staring up at my photos. One right above my bed was of my two best friends hugging me tightly. We were all dressed in scarves and cat ear head bands. Margo still had long hair at that point. We were at the beach celebrating her 11th birthday. Darcy didn't have her wonderful fringe either. We all looked so young and cheeky. High school definitely had changed us.
I met Darcy when I was 10. She was walking across the road barefoot and screaming "THE SKY IS FALLING!" Due to a sudden curiosity and guilt, I stopped walking randomly and bought her a pair of shoes.
"These should help." I told her reassuringly.
"THE SKY IS FALLING!"
"How do you know?"
"I SAW IT ON CHICKEN LITTLE!"
"WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING!?"
"I don't know," she whispered.
"If you don't mind me asking, are you a scrubber?" I watched as a smile appeared on her face. "Because people who don't wear shoes are usually scrubbers," I told her.
"What's a scrubber? Also is your hair naturally that colour? Do you like cats?"
That was the day I met my beautiful friend Darcy who transformed my life. Everyone thought she was really stupid but in actual fact she was just..................slow. Really slow.
Margo and I met in Grade 4. We were doing a plant assignment and I accidentally killed hers. I thought she would blow up in my face calling me a freak of nature or something. But instead she went outside and dug up a purple flower and handed it in the next day. She got an A- and I was the only one who knew she cheated. Margo went up to me and told me that apparently I was a nice person for not dobbing. Ever since we had been really close.
The phone rung. I jumped into a ninja pose then swung a lethal kick into the air hitting Luke in the thigh. He yelled out in surprise dropping the phone in his hand.
"OH MY GOSH! LUKE I AM SO SORRY! THE PHONE SCARED ME SO I BOUNCED INTO DEFENCE MODE! PLEASE DON'T BE MAD IT WAS AN ACCIDENT! ARE YOU HURT!? I HURT YOU DIDN'T I? ARE YOU BLEEDING?"
Luke burst into laughter calming me down. "I didn't even feel it," he said through the loud chuckles.
I blushed embarrassed by my freak out and the fact I couldn't even kick properly.
"Darcy's on the phone," he told me finally recovering.
I picked it up then smiled placing it on my ear.
"Hello?"
"CANDY! Please come to my place right now, something is seriously wrong!" I could hear the panic in her voice.
"Hang on, I'll be right there," I said hanging up.
What could possibly be wrong?
