  - Hey, I saw your message, I came as fast as I co- Ryan, do you mind maybe explaining what the fuck are you doing on a tree? - Brendon said, panting. He has been running to Ryan for the past ten minutes, as soon as he saw a message from Ryan:
"Forest. As soon as you can manage. I'm begging you."
  - Oh, well... it is quite complicated. First of all, sorry for texting you at four in the morning - said the tall, skinny boy, jumping off of the tree, graciously landing on his feet. He looked up at Brendon and his expression turned into a smile. Brendon, who eventually stopped panting and caught his breath, looked up at Ryan, smiling softly.
  - How are things going? - Brendon asked, feeling the concern that brought him here return. Ryan hardly ever goes to the forest, he is usually who-knows-where, doing who-knows-what. But, whenever he is at the forest, something is wrong. Very, very wrong.
  Ryan sighed. His expression darkened.
  - I-.. I don't know - the boy stuttered. Ryan had a mild stutter, but it could be a nightmare for him to try to speak when he is excited or nervous. Ryan hated it more than anything - but Brendon loved it. For whatever reason.
Their eyes met, and Brendon felt as if all the air was trapped in his lungs, as if he had forgotten how to breathe. Ryan had that unique, significant look in his eyes. He looked as if he could read Brendon's thoughts like an open book, as if he could see right through him. It was sort of unpleasant, but he just couldn't get eyes off of him. Off of Ryan and the look he was giving Brendon. They stared at each other wordlessly for a few moments, which felt like a whole eternity.
Ryan looked away and the spell was broken. Then, he stuttered, his voice barely above a whisper.
  - I d-don't want to go back home - he said, looking at his feet.
  - What? - Brendon was utterly confused. And worried. - Why? - he continued in a soft voice. Ryan took a deep, shaky breath.
  - My parents won't stop arguing. I can't take it anymore! - he said, despair clear in his voice. Brendon walked closer to him, suddenly pulling him into a tight embrace.
  - It will all end soon, I promise you - Brendon said softly as Ryan hugged back. - They'll sort it out. -
Ryan just nodded. They kept talking (mostly Brendon) for some more time.
Needless to say that they both ended up sitting on a tree, fingers entangled in a firm grip, for hours. Watching the break of down.
And, maybe, just maybe, things were okay. It's up to you to decide what happened then. Maybe you know already.
