Chapter 6

Return To A New Home

I look at the two rat-folk and notice how shaped their legs are. It resembles a rats' foot obviously, but it is distinct and evolved. Helping them to bounce around and walk like a human. They are neither rat nor human, but a combination of the two making primitive rat like creatures known as the rat-folk. In another universe out there, there are worlds with rat-like-humanoids... Interesting.

"Um... Excuse me miss, but I really need to get going. I have to go save my friends and return home. Everyone's waiting for me," I look at the two and jump down the bed.

"Oh? Won't you stay for tea?" the old master looks over.

"I-I'm sorry. I'm afraid I can't stay for tea," I walk towards the door.

"Okay. But wait," she squeaks.

"Hm? I really got to go," I turn back and kneel.

"Before you go I need to give you this to fully restore your magic power. You can use it now or later," she continues squeaking.

"Wh-what is it?" I turn my back.

"Here, a special herbal medicine to give you a boost of strength. Use it wisely for you can only use it once," she squeaks.

"Thank you Bessel. I mean it," I hold her small paws and bow.

"Now go, get on, they're waiting for you!" they both walk me out.

"If you find someone who can warp, please come visit! It'll be fun to introduce you!" I shout.

On my way out they gave me a cloak, I put the medicine in my bag, and I head out the door. I open the door and enter yet another hall of darkness. "Wind of Light." I cast a small energetic spell lighting my path. "This should be just enough for me to get by. Can't waste too much energy," I move my way through the halls and find the stairway I passed out on.

I see a fade of light ahead of me and slowly creep up around it. I close my magic light, I look through and I sneak around to a dark area. I look down the corner and I see several knight statues on each side of the hall. I walk behind each statue and come across a room of light. I hear distinct talking and a person is thrown against the wall.

"Eep! That was close!" I screamed in my head.

"yO! tRy DoInG tHaT aGaIn AnD sEe WhAt HaPpEnS!!" Shouted the guy thrown against the wall.

"Go HoMe Ya LaZy DrUnK!!" Another shouted from the broken window.

"Nice timing! I'll swoop in, listen for a bit, and find my way out of this place!" I whisper.

As soon as the door closes and the others' attention were averted, I knocked the guy thrown and grabbed his hoodie. I put it over and raided some of his stuff. I put my coat over so his clothes wouldn't stand out so much. I then proceed to enter and continue with my plan.

I walk across and opened the door. "..." I walk in quiet and ask for a sweet drink. For you see, I'm still a minor. I can't buy alcohol unless I'm 21 and entering a bar in a ragged old dungeon is no good either.

"What's the matter young man? Not gonna buy any ale? Mine is the best you'll ever see out there," he wails.

"..." I stare at him. I look down at my hands and I think. "Crap! If I'm just here then he'll get suspicious. I guess there's no helping it."

"Young man?" he rubs the counter of liquids and crumbs.

"I-I'll take your strongest ale!" I said in an attempt of toughness. "I hope he didn't hear through my pipsqueak voice."
