"Guilty!"

"Innocent!"

"She should be sent to the Hell of Eternal Suffering, not Heaven!"

"She sacrificed so much, at least let her have peace in death!"

"Have you not seen how few people mourn for her?"

"Yet her sister's offerings are great indeed!"

It was an event that occurred only once every thousand years. The ten ruler-judges of the afterlife could not agree on the fate of one girl.

Her sins were many, yet so were her good deeds. She had little family, yet plentiful offerings, and her circumstance should certainly be taken into account...

King Shinko believed she should go to Hell, as she lied about her sins.

King Shoko believed she should go to Heaven, due to her kindness to animals.

King Sotai believed she should go to Heaven, as well, since she committed no adultery.

King Gokan believed she should be sent to Hell, for the weight of her sins.

King Enma believed she should be sent to Heaven due to her tragic circumstances.

King Henjo believed she should go to Hell, for she answered no questions and responded to nothing.

King Taizen believed she should be sentenced to Hell, too, for her sins were great indeed.

King Byodo felt her good deeds outweighed the bad, and voted for her to get into Heaven.

King Toshi disagreed, saying she should be sent to Hell.

And last but not least, King Goderteinin believed she should go to Heaven, because she 'seemed nice enough.'

It was rare to see one soul sent to all the ten courts, and now all ten kings met to stare down the young girl.

She sat in the middle of the room, hands bound, a demon guard on either side. Her wide, (Eye Color) eyes were empty, and her (Hair Length), (Hair Color) hair was dull. It seemed she'd lost the will to live.

She opened her mouth, about to beg them to end this, and just send her to Hell when he spoke.

"Great kings, if I may interject."

Everyone stopped. The man was tall, with short black hair and a horn protruding from his forehead. The girl didn't take much note of him. She wanted to fall asleep and never wake up.

"Yes, Hozuki-kun?" King Enma replied, tilting his head.

"I would like to suggest that this girl be put into my care for the time being."

The kings gasped. The girl remained silent.

"It is clear a verdict cannot be reached at this time," Hozuki continued, "seeing as this is a very complex case. I am always in need of an assistant. For the next ten years, I propose she serve under me as my assistant chief of staff. You may observe her, and reflect on your decision."

King Enma looked around the room, observing the faces of the other kings. There were several murmurs and nods.

"Well, if that's okay with everyone else." Enma turned towards the girl, ready to pass the temporary judgment. "Then it is decided. (L/N) (F/N), you are sentenced to serve under Hozuki-kun for the next ten years!"
