I looked up at him with wide eyes, "I'm sorry I have-"

"No it's okay, answer it," he said reassuringly.

Nodding I took a deep breath and answered, "hello, Dad?"

"Hey princess! Long time no talk," he said cheerfully on the other side.

            "I know," I swallowed, "are...are you out?"

"Yeah princess I am. Everything's good now. I heard you and your Mom moved, but there's no forwarding address, guess that's why you never wrote me back."

"You wrote to me," I choked out.

"Of course I did, in the beginning. But I never got anything back."

"I'm sorry Dad, I didn't know. We left before they transferred you..." I stammered out, and Marcel put one of his shirts over my shoulders before taking a seat next to me.

"It's okay baby girl don't worry about it. That's what your old man gets for making mistakes right? I'd like to come see you though, if that would be okay," he asked timidly.

I leaned into Marcel and he put his arm around me, "I'd like that," I answered quickly.

"Great. it'll take me a few weeks to save up some money, you better talk to your mom."

"I will," I said, "do you have a job, where are you getting money?"

"You remember Joe? He's giving me a job in his garage. Just honest cash for me these days, don't worry."

I breathed a quiet sigh of relief, "good. I'll talk to Mom about it soon."

"So what are you doing? Do you like your new school, have you made any friends?"

"Yeah, Dad a few," I laughed awkwardly.

"Any boys I should know about?"

"Yes. I'm with him now actually," looking over to Marcel who was now smiling.

"Well I hope I'm not interrupting anything. I'll look forward to meeting him."

"I'm sure the feeling will be mutual."

"Alright well I'll let you get back to it princess, I'll call you again soon."
