I was currently walking with everyone to the concert. I felt really awkward going to one of these things.
Worse of all, I decided to drive. It was a completely stupid idea because now I can't drink.
We'll end up having three sober people. Me because I drove myself, Luke because he drove himself, and Daniel because he drove his sister, Sera, Nate, and Ryan. Yeah, we didn't do a good job of driving arrangements.
I let out a breath of relief when the concert started. I honestly was miserable. I couldn't drink, I hated the music, and I was meeting with him after.
Luke nudged my arm. "Not having fun?"
I shook my head no.
"What type of music do you like?"
"Rock from the 60s and 70s. I also like country a little." I mumbled.
"Good music taste." He complimented.
He didn't look like he was having a good time either. I don't even know why he agreed to come.
I didn't do much talking to him since Sera and Rachel were by my side screaming the lyrics to Ryder's songs.
Once the concert was over, I wasn't looking forward to seeing Ryder again. I sighed as I opened the door, which the security guard led me to.
I saw him sitting on a chair, and once he saw me, he stood up hugged me. I hugged him back and let go.
"Lila, it's good to see you." He told me. "This is the girl who told me she didn't like my music." He told the security guard.
"I still don't like it." I mumbled.
"Always hard to please." He mumbled.
"How's your life here? I heard about what happened with—" I cut him off with a glare and motioned to my friends. He instantly got it and continued, "the move. It must be hard being so far from the city. I know I have a hard time with it." He recovered.
I know Luke noticed our exchange. He was standing very close to me, but he wouldn't bring this up.
"It's fine. I actually really like it here." I replied.
"That's good." He awkwardly replied.
"Anyway, these are my friends."
I introduced my friends to him, and he talked to them a bit, but his attention was on me. I know he wanted me to open up, but deep down, he knew I wouldn't.
Once it was time to leave, I was excited to get out of the uncomfortable situation.
Most of my friends already filed out, but Sera was slow to leave, and Luke seemed to be waiting for me.
"Hey, Lila. You know, I could come back here, and we could give it another try." He suggested.
I shook my head. "I came here to get away from that life. I don't think it's a good idea to bring something back."
He sighed. "Well, if you ever need anything, give me a call. After all, I owe you for giving me the determination I needed for the music industry."
I chuckled. "Bye, Ryder."
"Bye, Lila."
With that I pushed my friends out and closed the door.
"Are you insane?!" Sera yelled at me. "He asked you out and you say no?!"
I sighed. "Sera, if you want him, you can have him." I mumbled.
She just shook her head in disbelief.
We all decided to get some ice cream afterward. I needed to eat something honestly and needed some relaxing after the concert.
We all drove there, and I saw Luke had gotten there first. The rest of the group was still on their way.
I got out and locked my car. I walked over to Luke, he opened the door for me. I mumbled a thanks and walked in.
I ordered a blackberry sundae. Luke ordered after me, and I saw the group file in. Luke led me to a huge table, and I sat next to him.
Everyone else started sitting down, and making conversation. I was glad that they're taking my mind off of things.
"Lila, what did you get?" Nate asked.
"A blackberry sundae." I answered.
"Why blackberry? Chocolate or vanilla or caramel is so much better."
"Says the person who has ice cream on their nose." I teased. He seemed to freak out and shot over to get a napkin.
We all started to laugh. I heard some Led Zeppelin play in the store. "Listen up, everyone. This is real music."
Everyone got quiet for a second. "This is the stuff Luke listens to." Nate commented.
I look over to Luke, who has a smirk on his face, and said, "good music taste," repeating what he said to me.
"Yeah, whatever. Let's play 20 questions since we don't know you that well." Ryan suggested.
"I'll go first. What's your favorite season? Mine's summer." Nate started.
A lot of summers were heard, but Luke said fall and I said winter.
"Favorite color?" Ryan asked.
The girls said pink. Nate and Luke said blue. Ryan and Daniel said green. I answered red.
"Okay...favorite movie?" Daniel asked.
A lot of modern movies were heard. I answered Rocky or The Godfather Part II. Then Luke answered Predator.
I had a really fun time so far, and now, it was Luke's turn to ask a question, but before he could ask, my phone rang.
I excused myself from the group and went to answer it.
I check the caller ID, and it was my mother. I sighed and answered.
"Hello?"
"I'm at your house. Come home."
