{PRETTY SHORT AND UNEVENTFUL BUT PROMISE IT WILL GET MORE INTERESTING}
I didn't know how I'd been convinced to come here. A shabby motel stood in front of me, along with a complimentary drug dealer in front of the lobby. My bag was beginning to get heavy as Zoe and Audrey hopped out of the small black Mazda Audrey's parents had purchased for her behind me.
"Seriously Audrey? La Quinta? This is your version of a girls trip?" Zoe mumbled annoyed. She scuffed up to me in her run down slides.
"Okay, okay, I get that it's not the most glamorous place ever, but it's the only place that would let me check in on such short notice since we're only 17." Audrey pointed out while throwing her blonde hair into a ponytail. "Plus we'll only be sleeping here and I know we'll just be out partying 90 percent of the time anyways."
"Alright dudes stop bickering and let's just go get settled in. I want to have plenty of time to go shopping before we go out on the town." I interjected before Zoe started accusing Audrey of being a Bella Thorne enthusiast. Audrey led the way up to the front desk and checked in while Zoe and I waited. I still was shocked that my mom had allowed me to come to a whole different part of California on such short notice, but thanks to Zoes dreams of being a lawyer, here I was. I had made sure to bring up the fact that I was going to be a senior in high school next year, and that I'd have to be living on my own soon enough. We had driven about 2 hours from LA to Santa Barbara spontaneously to start off the summer in hopes of spending some time at the beach tanning and drinking Piña Coladas.
We entered the room and I was pleasantly surprised. Other than the fact that we were in the middle of a big city with one lock on the door, the room wasn't terrible. There were two beds situated on the left side of the room, a small bathroom and shower, a closet, and a dresser with a TV across from the beds. The three of us began to unpack all the supplies we had brought for a week long trip into the dressers and the bathroom. For me this was mostly leggings and oversized T-Shirts and sweatshirts. Audrey and Zoe on the other hand looked like they had packed nearly their whole wardrobes. By the time we were done, our dressers were full, and the area around the sink was littered with various makeup products Zoe and Audrey had set out.
After about thirty minutes of getting situated we all agreed to head to a nearby shopping mall to pick out some new clothes to go out in. We visited Urban Outfitters, Forever21, American Eagle, and Hollister in which my two friends splurged on way to many items of clothing before finally reaching my holy grail: TJMaxx. I made a break for the mens T-Shirt section, but Zoe grabbed me by the arm before I could make it.
"No Ruby. We came here to get party clothes, remember?" Sadly, I turned and let Audrey and Zoe pick out a shit ton of fashionable (and might I say scandalous) outfits that I normally wouldn't be seen dead in. Reluctantly I brought everything up to the cashier who happened to be a creepy middle aged man who was definitely checking me out.
"Ew gross." I heard Zoe sneer. "Eyes off buddy." Heat crept up my cheeks as the man continued ringing me out in silence.
Now that we had basically spent all of our money on clothes, the three of us headed back to the hotel. Zoe claimed she had heard of some club that rarely checked IDs, and although there were three fake IDs waiting to be used in each of our pockets, none of us were super thrilled to use them. Once again I let Zoe and Audrey pick out my outfit for the night, and I had come to terms with the fact that the rest of the week would probably follow the same pattern. In the end they decided on a tight white tank top and mini skirt, and after Audrey straightened my hair and Zoe did my makeup I wasn't totally opposed to the look. Audrey had opted for a tight grey dress and stilettos while Zoe put on a white and orange dress. Somehow they both managed to pull off even the craziest outfits.
Ruby
Zoe
Audrey
After about an hour of my eyes being glued to my phone waiting for Audrey and Zoe to finish perfecting their makeup it was time to go. An Uber arrived to take us the 30 minute drive to the club and soon enough we had arrived.
"Thank you!" Audrey yelled after the white car driving away. What stood in front of me was absolute chaos. There were flashing lights everywhere, and somehow I felt like I was developing epilepsy. A huge line full of bouncy party goers waiting to enter the shaking building appeared in front of me. I could hear the fast electronic music bumping form inside the doors. Audrey looked a bit shaky, and I felt the same. Zoe on the other hand looked serene. While everything in my gut was telling me to turn the fuck around and get out of there, Zoe was not. A hand grabbed my forearm and practically dragged me into line.
"I need you both to get your shit together, okay?" Zoe basically screamed over the loud music. "We did not come here to sit in a hotel room all week."
"But-" Audrey started.
"We're doing this." Zoe interrupted. While Audrey continued to make excuses I looked ahead at the line in front of us. Suddenly someone in the front of the line turned their head and looked right back at me. It was a guy, and might I say a SUPER hot guy. Soon enough he was ushered into the club, but I couldn't get those hazel eyes out of my mind. Zoe was right. I did come here to have fun, and maybe the idea of meeting that guy might have swayed my opinion but right now that didn't really matter. All I knew was that I was going into that club.
