"Sherlock," a boy greeted him with an outstretched arm, he had brown eyes and nearly black, gelled back hair.
"Back from your work experience, Graham?" Sherlock asked, reluctantly taking his hand and awkwardly smiling.
"Greg, my names Greg," Greg corrected Sherlock with an eyeroll, "yeah I'm back, did you miss me?"
"It was peaceful, without your stupidity filling the room and without Mycroft constantly going on about what you did this morning," Sherlock responded, absentmindedly, yet he still saw Greg blush at the mention of Mycroft.
"How is Mycroft?"
"How would I know?"
"You're his brother!" an exasperated Greg cried.
"Nice observational skills," Sherlock mocked.
Greg flashed a wry smile at Sherlock and then nodded at John with questioning eyes.
"I'm John," John introduced, pulling at the sleeves of his jumper.
"John," Greg repeated, "you're new here?"
"Mmmhh," John confirmed
"What are you doing hanging out with Holmes?" Greg quizzed, raising an eyebrow at Sherlock.
"He's my... friend?" John explained, almost questioningly, he looked at Sherlock for approval but Sherlock seemed to have frozen on the spot.
"Friend?" Greg choked, in genuine shock and there was a hint of amusement too.
"My roommate," Sherlock spoke, his gaze was distant and almost lost.
"I thought you weren't getting a roommate,"
"So did I," Sherlock groaned, "Damn Mycroft!"
Greg chuckled, scratching at the back of his head, "I think you should have done the work experience, Sherlock, I know you've got longer than me to decide upon your career, but honestly the place is perfect for y-"
"Me, working with the police force? That's like me working with children - in fact, they are children!" Sherlock dismissed.
"But you'd make a great detective, besides, you already love solving crimes and stuff," Greg inputted, desperately.
"Yes, I would love to be able to solve crimes in the future - but not with the police, I can't be a P.I. either, they rarely solve murders," Sherlock complained, then, with a joking tone to his brittle voice, he added, "Maybe I'll invent a job,"
"Only you," Greg chortled, "Only you, Sherlock bloody Holmes, could invent a job,"
