Chapter Eight

Violet

When me and Daniel got home, Jessabella was in bed, as promised. She was fast asleep but she wasn't in her night gown. Rather, in her work clothes.

Me and Daniel were surprised by the fact that she was still in her clothes but at least she was getting the sleep she needs. Besides, she'll probably take a shower and change when she wakes up and heads to work tomorrow.

We smile at her sleeping form and we began to get ready for bed. I noticed that Daniel was looking at a photo of his Aunt Cynthia.

"You okay, Daniel?", I asked.

When Daniel decided to help me raise Jessabella, He hasn't had time to check on his Aunt. Even though Daniel never had a mom and a dad, he still viewed his aunt as a mother.

"We should see her soon. She'll probably be worried about us all," Daniel said.

I couldn't agree more. Besides, Jessabella never knew her grandparents and it would be fair for her to meet Cynthia.

Then, there was a knock on the door. Daniel got up and opened the door to see Gazelle. But she looked different.

I mean, she was still herself: same hair style, looks, clothing... Except her belly was a little bit fat. Maybe she was getting fat?

We welcomed her in and I decided to make some tea. We all sat down and Gazelle greeted us politely.

Then, she asked us if she could see Jessabella. At first, we wanted to know why. She told us that she have been sick a lot lately and her stomach would hurt for a moment or two. She didn't want to let anyone know what was happening and since she knew us, she came to see if we can help her. We told her that she was family and family helps each other out.

I fetched Jessabella and got her up, but since she's not a morning person, we had a hard time getting her out of bed. She was grumbling and griping about how early she woke up and the first thing she did was mad a cup of coffee. After her blue mountain coffee, we told her about Gazelle and she went to get her doctors tools (And yes, they are really doctor tools, not those plastic ones).

She did a few procedures and she then whispered in my ear to get a plastic cup. I didn't understand why she needed it but I got it anyway. She then asked Gazelle to come with her in the bathroom. I was welcomed as well, but she told Daniel to stay where he is.

I decided to stay with Daniel and I laid my back towards the wall next to the bathroom door. After a procedure, Jessabella had a grin on her face while Gazelle looked extremely happy. I couldn't tell what was up but then Jessabella told us all.

And what she said shocked us.

"Gazelle is having a baby!"
