Scarlett
When it first happened, I didn't know what to think. I looked around the stall I was currently in with alarmed eyes, as if I could find an answer of what that was. It was just someone closing a locker really loud, right? Or maybe even a janitor fixing something and dropped a tool... right? I almost convinced myself that that was what it was.
But then it happened again.
Bang
This time I heard a scream along with it, and it shook me to my very core. I gasped, quickly covering my mouth, and closed my eyes tight. I shook as I quickly jumped up to stand on the toilet's edge.
What do I do? I didn't have a clue. My mind was all over the place and whenever I tried to think, all I could hear was the echo of a gunshot. Was it another one or was my mind actually playing tricks on me that time? I didn't know at this point.
Heavy breathing was the only thing heard in the bathroom, for a second I thought maybe I truly wasn't alone, but my mind stopped panicking long enough for me to come to the conclusion that it was just me. I squeezed my eyes tighter, and tightened my hold over my mouth, I couldn't make a sound. I didn't know who it was, but I couldn't let them find me.
I was only 17, I was graduating in three months, my life has barely begun. I had a family, a boyfriend - oh god, Louis. Not even ten minutes ago, we were laughing and quietly whispering to each other in math class, when I asked to use the restroom... The thought of that being the last time I saw him made me sick. I sniffled as I pictured his soft, caramel locks, his breathtakingly blue eyes, and his smile that made his eyes crinkle. I almost smiled at the thought- his smile was always my favorite sight.
My mind was interrupted, a silent, broken sob shook my body when I heard the sound of boots squeaking along the floor getting closer towards the bathroom.
Please don't come in here. Please.
The chilling noise of rubber against tile stopped suddenly, my prayers momentarily answered... But then it started again, this time quicker, and this time inside the bathroom until the view of black, worn out combat boots came into view in front of my closed stall.
Oh god, I love you Louis.
