^Place Author's Note Here. ^ You know what I am probably just going to skip this one until I have something to say. Actually one thing. If you would take a look to your right you will see a beautiful genie dress that makes Judith uncomfortable. Not quite the same effect on Harvey though. ;) Enjoy. Lots of Love!
P.S I am dedicating this chapter Chelstopolis. This is not to get you to read it or to get you to follow me. I just want to express my admiration of your work. Plus, this has to do with mythology, which you write a lot of. So this goes to you!
Harvey's POV:
Okay, so weirder things have happened.
On television.
Definitely not in real life.
How often does a beautiful girl in a red ball gown appear out of an old crusty artifact your dead aunt left you? Precisely. Only in a movie. But here she is, scowling at me. This is after, ofcourse, she told the local sheriff's department that I need medication and belong in a nuthouse. She keeps staring at me as I sit on the couch and finally I just have to say something.
"Can I help you?" I ask her, trying to talk without my voice squeaking. However, this seems to make matters worse because now she's darting at me at 100 miles per hour. She grabs me by the collar of my shirt and breathes in my face.
"You can get me my lamp back, you !@#$%^&!" For any of the younger readers, I will be kind enough to bleep this out.
She's a genie then. I thought they only came in blue and were voiced by the hilarious Robin Williams. But, this wasn't so bad either. Raven black hair and pretty brown eyes, all complimented by a long red gown. She is about a half a foot shorter than me, but that doesn't make her any less scary.
"Look, I'm sorry about your teapot. I was a little startled," I tell her, moving her hands off of my shirt.
"Lamp. It's a lamp. It's where I live. And because of you, my faerie was almost flattened into roadkill!" She screams at me, plopping down on the couch. She seems tired and, as much as she wouldn't like to admit it, I can hear her stomach grumbling.
I get up and walk to the kitchen but not without turning around first. Her glare turns into confusion and she just watches me. I get out some cups and pour some leftover iced tea in them. I also make two sandwiches. I bring them out on plates and set them down on the coffee table.
"Here. Eat." I say, pushing the plate infront of her.
She shakes her head, "I'm not hungry." She says stubbornly.
I shrug and bite into my sandwich. I hadn't eaten dinner yet and if she didn't eat hers, I wasn't going to let it go to waste. As I eat, she just sits there, with her arms crossed. Her little red shoe is tapping on the ground and she seems rather impatient. I tried calling the police before, but she doesn't seem that dangerous. I finish eating my sandwich and eye hers.
"If your not going to, then I will." I say, pulling the plate over by me. She hits her hand down on the table and I push it back. Without looking at me, she picks up the sandwich and takes a bite. I take a sip of my ice tea and watch her take small bites of her food. She eats like a bird but that doesn't last for long. She must have been really hungry. When she finishes, she takes a big gulp of the tea and catches my stare with her own.
"Do I hear a thank you?" I ask her, picking up her plate.
"It's only proper compensation for you breaking my lamp. But this doesn't even begin to cover it."
I go to the kitchen and put the plates in the sink. I suppose I'll do them later. I walk back in and remember what she said.
"What do I owe you for it?" I ask her, reaching for my wallet.
"There's nothing a mortal can do about it. You will provide me with housing for seven, 24 hour periods, until the time in which I can get my lamp back, moron."
"I will?" I say, surprised at her words. "Now look lady, I don't know what you are doing her or why you are treating my like garbage, but last time I checked, genies are supposed to give the person who rubs their lamp wishes."
"That can only occur when I have my lamp back. You will let me stay here until the week is over. Do you understand, you idiot?"
I try to process what she is saying. It's been just me and the apartment for 3 years. My parents are always busy and provided me with a place to stay where they wouldn't have to worry about me. It's not like they actually would care if a girl stayed with me. What would she do while I was at school? Here I am on a Saturday night with a genie and I'm really questioning it?
"Fine, you can stay here. But just so you know, my name isn't idiot. It's Harvey. Do you have a name, or should I just call you Genie?"
"My name is Judith. My friends call me Judy. You can call me Judith." She says, hopping off the couch and wondering into the hallway like she owns the place. On her way down the hall, she opens every door. The bathroom, the kitchen, my bedroom. That girl seems fascinated by everything. She walks into my bedroom and I hear a crash. I run into my room to get a look at the wreckage.
"Oops. Sorry. Was that important?" She asks, dripping with sarcasm. She knocked my lamp off my bedside table and the shattered bulb is all over the floor.
"Fine. Fair enough. Now back up. The glass could cut you." I say to her, making sure she can hear how serious I am. I go into the bathroom and get a towel. She's already moved by the door so I can pick up the glass shards. As I'm about to pick them up, they dissappear. I look back at Judith, who's smiling mischieviously.
"Don't act so surprised. Genie." She says, pointing at herself. I smile back but her's quickly turns back to a scowl. "Is this where I will be sleeping?" She asks, pointing to my bed.
I'm still staring at her in awe, "Yeah, I'll take the couch."
"Goodnight Harvey." She says, lifting up my sheets and snuggling into them.
"Goodnight." I wave at her and exit my room, turning off the light and closing the door.
Well, it looks like we have another resident at Casa De Loner.
A/N: This is another short chapter, BUT it was posted on the same day as the first so you can just put them together and pretend it's one. Anyway, I haven't fully proofread this yet so if you see anything that I missed let me know. Like last chapter, leave questions for any of the characters and they will answer them. Lots of Love!
